There are altruistic parents in this forum who provide invaluable information to people like me who knew little about P1 preparation and procedures.  They are the people who make this forum worthwhile, even if they may be just a minority.

Sure, thanks for those provide valuable information.  The forum is for exchange of information, especially for me, a full time mom.

My experience is every child is very unique. My two children go through very different process though I think I have provided best parenting to them. The first one has been rather smooth in the P1 interviews, while the second one now has been facing much challenges.

The first one was not selected at first , he was on waiting list to be selected into a quite "famous" school, but now he is on the top of his year. His development bloom at year 3 and year 4 of his primary education. The entrance selection is meaningless if take this as an example....

My comments on the schools interviews:
They are picking up "standardize" kids, with standardized "model answers" and "model behaviors" to fit their interview protocols..

So, do not blame yourself or your kids. You are just playing a game to fit such "standardize model" of education, which is not very child-centred, and not a measure to decide your value or your child's value,  though most of them claim themsevles to have "great educational visions and missions",

That's a big joke!!

I don't think any principal or headmistress would admit that they want candidates to have "standard answers", but it may be true that each school has its own appetite; if you want your child to be in the school, you have to adapt him/her to the style of the school; at the same time, as parents we must consider whether these schools are suitable for our child based on his/her preferred learning mode and personality.

I can resemble the current P1 selection process with public exams such as HKCEE and HKAL.  We all know routine revisions are essential, but if you want good grades, you need to learn some exam techniques so that you can express your answers effectively.  The current DSS/private schools' P1 selection process is similar to a public exam conducted by each school - it's just that you never know the syllabus, so either you cover everything or use "interview classes" (with a similar effect as tutorial classes) to strengthen the interview ("exam") techniques.
