1. I have a friend whose daughter and son studied in this school from P1-6. Daughter is now in its secondary school, son in F2 in another school.
The daughter adapted well to the school's teaching/learning method, which was quite traditional. But the son was a bit careless, not 100% attentive, but not the naughty type. Most of the teachers there just taught without putting their heart in the teaching, and didn't care about the kids, scolded instead of encouraged. It wasn't until the son was in P5 that he "met" a good class teacher who paid more attention to him - encouraged him in small matters etc., that the son showed more interest in learning. So some teachers took it as a job only, day in and day out, with no heart in the job. The son also lost pencils, rubbers, rulers, etc. and knew who took it, but the teachers (from P1 - 4) didn't do anything even when the son complained to the teacher. So the parents and the son had to avoid this problem passively by not taking cute stationery back to school.
2. I met 2 parents of my son's classmate the day we went for interview. One parent said when she went to apply, she saw a KG teacher leading kids back inside (i.e. back to covered area) after taking PE lesson in the courtyard. The first few kids could follow the teacher, but a kid further back failed to catch up so the queue was broken. The teacher was very impatient and said "tut". Not very kind even to a KG kid.
I can't answer your 2nd Q - I have not studied the system yet, and doesn't understand it. |
