Hi Wootaitai, thank you for your insight. You're definitely right about the discipline vs language. I guess what's holding me back from choosing Lingnan are the following:
- language
- campus is quite old and hard to get to
- curriculum too easy
- PM class for my girls.

Perhaps these are minor points?

Dear all mummies, may i seek your advice as i am really struggling whether to let me son to Lingnan PM class.

Our concern:-
1) His time clock is energetic in the morning and used to have a nap from 1230 to 3pm. So we prefer am class.

2) We live in Kennedy Town and is pretty far away from Lingnan.....a bit worried for him to take school bus by himself.

Besides Lingnan, we didn't have any other options (previously either he is on waiting list or we dun pay the deposit in other school).

Wat i am thinking now:-
1) unless Lingnan can offer am class before Aug, we will arrange my son to go to Letterland (CWB) . Currently he goes to playgroup at Baby Buddies at Sheung Wan which is pretty good.

2) then we applied pre-nursery/K1 this year for those school in Central and Western District.

Any comments??

I just called to Lin Lam,they said they will send out the form for applying the uniform and other payments... e.g. books. Will you pay for that ? or you have other better selection?

Hi meimei223, I already got their letters to pay for tuition, books, etc. I'm still not decided where my babies will go. They got accepted by Victoria Am already so I think this is better for their schedule. They also learn English/ Mandarin in their current school so I think transition would be better as Lingnan is all Cantonese. Looking at their fees, everything is so much cheaper than Victoria which is also another considerations. Will you put your kid in Lingnan?

I just attended the Victoria playgroup,that was extremely bad, i don't want my babies go to this school.

I just attended the victoria playgroup,it was very bad experiance,mostly babies playing by their own. Wasting money and time, so i really cannot trust this school have good reputation to teach.

That's terrible to hear. May I ask which campus the playgroup is at? When I attend the kids' playgroup, we were so busy. Running from 1 activity to the next. There were free time for sure (in the beginning and in the indoor playgroup) but only the latter was a bit longer. Must have been worse..... We'll stop the PG in June as we'll be on holiday then they'll start PN there in August. Hopefully it won't be so so bad as you described.

I got the forms from Lingnan and I feel sad to give up the school as I know it's a good one. However, I'm worried about the language and the curriculum.

my son is 0808 baby n he was offered PM class at Lingnan but we decided will not go for it mainly because the school bus does not cover our area. We live in Kennedy Town and it's very inconvenient for me to bring him to school everyday and i dun want to let the maid to do it. We may try to find if there is any other nursery class near our district or go to playgroups for 1 yr more before going to K1.

It's a painful decision but we dun want my son to travel long long way to Lingnan.

We're living in WanChai.

We want to switch to AM class too.....but low/no chance.

Hi,Twinsbaby,we attended the (upper Victoria TKS),the beginning teacher is Ms.Lau and Ms. Annate (English teacher),after one class,only Ms.Lau because the Ms.Annate got thoat problem and unable to speak. The 3rd class,temporary find one english teacher who doesn't know how to teach and scare to sing. Finally, new Chi. teacher and another new teacher,but the eng. one still bad.... I already not giving the May tuition fee....the PG was the one that the worst so far.

我都係住小西灣(富景), 其實迦南(AM) 、蘇浙(PM) 、嶺南(AM)三間(Nursery)都收咗我個仔(08大仔)。我已經放棄咗”迦南”,
好大機會都會放棄”蘇浙”(5月13-15日註冊), 90%會讀”嶺南”(5月8日註冊)。

我問過嶺南校車要8.00am上車, 9.00am到學校(實際的上車時間當然要視乎有幾多少朋友住係港島東啦)。係就係遠d, 但又想亞仔讀得開開心心, 希望仔仔可以係幼兒園/幼稚園階段能建立信心及學習的興趣。所以似乎”嶺南”係首選。諗住試下先(嶺南8月中開學), 唔鍾意再係開學後轉校, 最壞打算唔讀Nursery囉 !

其實今年9/10月肯定會報其他幼稚園(K1), e.g 聖瑪加利大, 靈糧堂, 呂郭碧鳳, 聖公會等。

If Lingnam PM nursery class VS. Wisely AM K1 class, which one is better?

Which school has better chance/reputation to get into better school like Scared Heart/ St. Stevenson Girls for next year 2011 K1 please?

hi,sh_yp,why you give up ”蘇浙”? ”蘇浙”should be better that 嶺南,they have biligaul class instead of the simple chinese class?

Well …. I do have the same concern before.
KCS is a bit closer and have Mandarin/Eng.
However, KCS need to sit-in for K1 interview, not guarantee for K1 promotion.
Moreover, I found that the teachers in KCS is a bit old and heard that they are using their old theory for teaching, some of the teachers are not caring.
Of course, all the school have good & bad teachers.

Though I will apply other kinders for son in coming Sep/Oct, however, for sure the competition is extremely keen due to high birth rate of 2007/2008.
Hence, it seems more safe to pick Lingnan just in case I can’t get in to those dream kinders.
So far Lingnan’s comments is a super happy school for kids & mommy.
I really want my son to enjoy his nursery/kinder life without any pressure.
Study life is so long for them …...

Tomorrow my babies will have Victoria interview and York's PN seminar,very busy.

Will other Mami go to 嶺南 to pay the tuition fee?

Really cannot decide which school to take and so fast to decide payment....so bad...
