Agreed! But I think the parents are best ones to know their kids... If your boy is quite active and doesn't enjoy to do a lot of homework after school, then you choose GT. And YW is more traditional than GT, their approaches are different. However, I would like to share my experience. I went to study in UK after F.3. When I was studying the Science subjects in HK, I had great troubles doing them. I didn't understand a word of Physics and could even get 9 marks for my exam! (I was ranked the top 20 in my year before the science subjects appeared). But my mom forced me to choose sciences in UK (the older generation thought science students can have better careers).
Guess what I got for my GCSE Physics? I got a B!!! And I got As for maths, chemistry and biology!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, one of my friends only achieved 19 marks for her HKCEE, but u guess which university she got accepted at the end? She did A levels in UK and got all straight As and finally got accpeted by Oxford!!!! In my old UK secondary school (quite high ranked in UK), most of my classmates got 5 or 6 As for their GCSEs. I knew three girls who had achieved 10A* and one of them was accepted by cambridge's medicine department finally! And the caucasians did the GCSE 2 yrs earlier than the age of we do HKCEE. So I think they are two different level of exams, u cannot compare them together.
But I was happy that the GCSEs were easier than the HKCEEs, so I didn't lose my interests on Science and can finally finish my master for a science major degree,
