Top famous schools are like that.  They have too many applicants.  To studying at top famous school, this is just the beginning of your nightmare!!!  Please consider carefully......

多謝提醒！我住新界區的，考香港區的小學只是想拿些面試經驗，過海讀書機會不大，因為大人小孩都辛苦。 :evil:

唔係好難.

去到禮堂, 坐左一陣, 叫名, 父母同小朋友一齊入校長室隔離一間conference room, "木台"上有玩具/圖書, 父母可自由比小朋友玩/睇書, 冇人supervise, 至在kill time (因為隔離校長室做緊另外一個小朋友interview).

當上一個小朋友in. 完, 就會叫名, 小朋友自己入校長室.  校長室既門係打開既, 門口對開仲有2個位比父母坐, 小朋友在校長室既sofa坐, 校長坐小朋友隔離, 全程父母都睇到哂.

就我仔仔而言, in. 左小過5mins, 校長問佢名/幼稚園名/學校有冇寫過"中秋"兩字/中秋節去過邊/中秋節有咩唔做得(我仔仔答"煲腊").  跟住校長o係一疊卡度抽其中一張圖畫出黎問, 問題就類似iq題, "圖中有幾多隻老鼠"/"大象做緊咩野"/"如果你係隻老鼠你會點"... (我諗係考小朋友既表達力).

Except for"good morning" and "goodbye", there will not be any conversation between the parents and the principal.
Don't worry, I don't think there is strong competition to enter this school.

My son interview time will be tomorrow.St Paul boy is my dream school. Near my home & has their own secondary school. Can anyone know is it a very traditional school & lots of homework?Compare to before, not very difficult to enter? I called DBSPS yesterday they said that they had 1,400 candidate. They will mail interview letter within these 1 to 2 week.Wow! they have 150 seats in total, ie. around 10 boy to compete 1 seat.

I heard it is about 1:7.  they have 90 seats and about 6 hundred something candidates.

told by school, DBSPS has 1,400 candidate.  But St paul boy I knew there was around 600.  For Kau Yan, around 200(said by their teacher)

would you please tell me more about the campus leh, since i found that the entrance and hall was quite old and small, but becasuse i am not supposed to walk around, maybe there is some more other sides which i do not know, if possible, please advise. thanks in advance. my interview will be tomorrow leh, if accepted, need to give up lucky draw, is it correct.

Don't be cheated by the outward appearance of SPC.  There have been renovation recently.  As I had been to this school for interview, we found that the hall is well-equipped (seats--enough for whole school students, stage, aircon...), and the rooftop is renovated into a little playground with 軟墊and 跳飛機.  Its school office is well-decorated with partition of seats among staff, the principal's room got sofa, very big.  Just like an ordinary company.  

BTW, do bear in mind that 軟件(校風、老師、教學熱情、校長領導)are always far more important than the environment/facilities of school.

  港島區最受歡迎的直資男校——聖保羅書院小學，去年就收到725份報名表，平均8.1人角逐1個學額，是甚多家長的心儀小學之一。今日請來校長陳慕珍親自解答各位家長的問題。

「獲取錄的小孩大部分並無提交個人檔案」

問﹕遞交申請表時，需要提交孩子的個人檔案（Portfolio）、獎狀或其他興趣班的資料嗎﹖製作精美，甚至加上孩子教育基金資料、家長事業目標等，會否增加入學機會﹖

聖保羅書院小學校長陳慕珍認為，家長只要清楚填妥報名表，及提交校方要求的文件，便毋須額外附上小孩的個人檔案。她說﹕「我印象中獲取錄的小朋友中，大部分並沒有提交個人檔案。」

不過，若家長很想遞交孩子的獎狀及其他資料，校方亦不會拒絕，但未必一定能增加入學機會。

至於教育基金、家長事業目標等，她說﹕「這些一概與小朋友入學無關。」

「無任何課外活動，但面談表現好，亦有機會」

問﹕學校是否?重孩子的課外興趣，特別是音樂活動，並作為收生參考準則之一﹖

聖保羅書院小學的申請表上，除了有音樂類課外活動可填寫外，亦同時有體育、美術及其他項目，陳校長指主要看孩子是否有均衡發展的潛質，不會因項目特多而加分。她說﹕「就算孩子無任何課外活動，但面談表現很好，亦有機會被取錄。」課外活動僅參考之一，陳校長指他們亦會參考幼稚園老師的評估，面見表現亦重要。她說﹕「若活動寫滿紙，來面見卻不理睬我，我亦不會給他學位。」

問﹕坊間有些教育機構建議家長讓孩子學習「另類」樂器（如豎琴）或活動（如騎馬），以增加「入學勝算」，是否屬實﹖

陳校長表示，有些家長因為家庭傳統，喜歡讓孩子學習某種特別活動，例如全家都學弦樂，她十分支持，但她表示並不會因而增加獲取錄的勝算。

「我喜歡學校?有不同性格的小朋友」

問﹕若孩子個性較內向、慢熱，面試時是否較吃虧﹖如何才能突出個人優點﹖

陳校長覺得小朋友在5歲階段，無必要教他不自然的、人工的技巧，以突出個人優點。她說﹕「慢熱不等於一句話也不說，只要不是5分鐘說不出一句話就可以。我也接觸過慢熱內向的孩子，但他們亦樂於交談。害羞有害羞的表達方法，我也喜歡學校?有不同性格的小朋友。」

「學校有多種類型的學生」

問﹕最喜歡和最多取錄哪類型與哪間幼稚園的學生﹖

陳校長表示他們有多種類型的學生﹕音樂型、讀書型、反斗型、文靜型、運動型等等。而據她記憶所及，申請者多來自中西區各間幼稚園，她說﹕「各間幼稚園都有值得給予學位的小朋友。」故篩選時絕無任何偏好。

「面見話題環繞日常生活」

問﹕面見的內容及要求如何﹖會考孩子的能力，如英語、普通話、音樂演奏等各方面的能力嗎﹖有何評選準則﹖

上述均非陳校長考核的範圍，她說﹕「我們依照教統局指引，話題環繞小朋友日常生活經驗，不排除給他看一本兒童書或獨立圖片，又或用物件引出一些話題。」面見主要看孩子臨場表現，至於孩子的學術成績，則會參考就讀學校的評估報告。家長應留意該校雖為直資小學，但仍有計分制度，例如兄長、父親曾在該校（包括中學部）就讀，小朋友可加分﹔校長亦會根據孩子面見表現加分。

問﹕面見前要準備什麼﹖

陳校長認為帶小朋友到陌生地方，最基本是給他心理準備，了解來這學校做什麼。其次是一些家庭平日應有的基本禮貌訓練，包括傾談時有目光接觸﹔適當時說「多謝」與「唔該」﹔與人合作﹔不要跑來跑去等。故陳校長覺得除非孩子「學極都學不會」，否則毋須參加面試班由專人訓練。

「家長背景完全無關，全職媽媽不會有優勢」

問﹕家長的背景和學歷與學生是否被取錄有關嗎﹖全職媽媽是否較有優勢﹖

陳校長說﹕「這些完全無關，全職媽媽也不會有優勢。」

她建議雙職父母，最基本是先給孩子的照顧者充足指引，提供足夠的照顧。她說﹕「我聽過有小朋友回家數小時，直至父母回來，還未換校服，又怎能再要求父母給他們學業指導與幫助﹖」下班後無論多累，亦應最少花數分鐘跟孩子傾談，包括了解學校生活，並給孩子指導功課。若孩子有不懂的地方，應了解原因，有需要時跟老師商量。

「計分制，兄在學，弟佔優」

問﹕若哥哥能入讀聖保羅書院小學，弟弟將來能入讀的機會有多高﹖

由於聖保羅書院小學設計分制，故有兄長在學，弟弟就算對答水準一般，亦佔優勢。但陳校長說﹕「若弟弟面見時不合作、不瞅不睬，我們亦未必會在第一輪給他學位。」

．9月17日前到校索取表格，或上網下載申請表格

．9月15至17日上午9:00至下午4:30親自到校交表，並附所需文件

．10月期間進行面見

．11月15日或之前書面通知申請人收生結果

Hi fatdudu,
I went to interview today & can finish within half an hour. My son was interviewed by the Principal, Ms Chan.Principal asked his name, where he study now, what he would like to do during class & ask him to sing a song.(my son ans. OK!)& then ask what he would like to do on Sun, my son ans went to"Ocean Park" & then the Principal asked what he could see in Ocean Park.My son is an expert to ans. this q. Finally the principal randomly draw a card & asked some q around the card.My son ans "Causeway Bay". My son said because he could seen ice-cream shop/hawker to sell something.However the principal said that it should be a "market"!(FYI, the card also had donkey,rabbit & cat). Good Luck for your interview!

Dear every mami,

I would like to ask about St. Paul's Boys at Hill Road.  My son is going to have an interview next Wednesday.  As I am the working mum and my son has other interviews on Oct, so we want to know whether we bring our son to this interview either by his father or mother but not both, is that possible or any comment or advice?  Does the Principal get any interview with the parents?  Can anyone share their experience?

Don't worry.If you are too busy to go for interview, only you or husband go is fine. I saw lots of children only accomplished by father or mother or even grandparent.Parents are no need to be interviewed. You just sit outside the room, but you can see the whole process as the door was opened.BTW, the whole interview including waiting time takes only about half an hour!You make decision by yourself. Next week Mon, my son will interview at St Paul Co-ed, I will let my son to be accomplished by his Daddy only!
