My only advice is here try typing "智能測驗”or "智力測驗" on internet serach engine and see what you get. Eventually you will develop a list. Sorry it's not right for me to give you specific names here.

When you call them, not just comparing the price, which might range from less than $2000 to almost $5000, but also whether the psychologist is a qualified and experienced one (i.e. members of either 香港心理學會, 英國心理學會[BPS], or 美國心理學會[APA]). An IQ test done by an unqualified person is useless and a waste of time, assuming that this guy hasn't done any psychological harm to your child during the test...

在9月10日我曾經問過你關於韋氏評估o既資料. 突然想起7月尾我帶小兒到協康會做過一次I.Q. Test (因為鴉蘭街評估中心要排到10月, 而且例牌押後幾個月, 我又想知我個仔去到邊個位, 因為要報小一o麻!)後來再打去問番個心理學家: 你們有無得做韋氏評估呀? 佢答我原來o個
次個評估首先係用韋氏做的 (佢解釋呢套係香港做評估係用緊呢套), 但因小兒做起上o黎好困難, 因為要用好多說話才測到, 而小兒理解及說話表達低, 所以用o左另外一套來測, 佢解釋o個套係用外國o個套, 但佢無講個名稱給我,只解釋係以少說話都測得到, 我估係答: 是或不是, 或者淨係答一個詞語而吾係句子o拉. 未知結果時我o地亦有問小兒有無自閉, 她解釋問番我o地(父母)問題就可以知道, 最後得到IQ評估答案係: 輕度弱智至到有限度智能o個個range. 而自閉o個part o既答案係: 無, 連傾向都無. 以上是協康心理學家做o既評估. 另外我又想講講4月份去鴉蘭街兒科醫生o既評估.當時小兒因感冒食o左西藥, 加上眼訓吾肯做, 叫佢疊積木仲想打醫生, 醫生幫佢疊一粒仲想用積木掉佢, 後來請佢過隔離玩玩具, 最後乜都做唔到, 只係問o左我o地一大堆問題, 結果比我o既答案係有自閉傾向,但臨走都比份問卷我填, 填完請我同社工傾偈, 突然o個醫生又入o黎間房同我講: 以你填o個份問卷又唔係好似自閉傾向, 唔係咁差! 到上個月見油麻地精神科, 佢都有問我係唔係比以上兩個評估攪到不清不楚, 一個說有自閉傾向, 一個說是輕度而冇傾向, 但最後佢講覺得係有自閉傾向, (之後o個答案仲勁過之前o個兩個) 係非典型o個種自閉症傾向, 你話係唔係聞所未聞. 還掂講開不如就講多兩個專業人仕啦! 學校o既兼收老師, 直接教佢o個個覺得佢有自閉症徵狀, 另外都會在大班上堂o個個兼收老師話佢一D都無. Dr.T, 我知"自閉"這兩個字係好廣, 你聽完我小兒的個案, 你有什 睇法????

Dear AGNESNG,

1. That IQ test should be either Stanford-Binet or Merrill-Palmer. Most likely it'll be the former if the child is older than 4.

2. I'm not surprise about your case. As I said, not sure starting from when clinicians (not limited in HK) tend to use the term 自閉症 /自閉傾向 rather freely and will not consider the feeling on the other side (i.e. parents). My question is why not observe longer and give a more meaningful diagnosis? If a doctor finds a lump on my left arm and saying that it's likely to be 癌症傾向, technically he's right but for me I'll be scared to death. In fact that lump might only be a mosquito bite! :

By the way, a friend of mine asked me sometime before that if her son has 自閉傾向, when doing an IQ test by an individual psychologist, should she tell the psychologist that her son has 自閉傾向 or just let the psychologist do the test without any indication of this ?  she just worried if the test would be done biasly.

I don't really know what to suggest as different psychologists might see the same thing differently. 自閉傾向 means nothing to me.

With my years of experience behind me, I now choose not to discuss with the parents before I test the kids. Parents might write down their expectation briefly on the intake form and that'll be all I know about the child. But usually other people will talk to the parents in length which I personally find not very helpful.
