Just hope that I was not the one who tested him otherwise I must had done a very bad job in explaining the test to you I know it's highly unlikely as I often, if not always, explained what had been done to the kids in details during the feedback.
Anyway, "Coding-符號填充" is a test of eye-hand coordination. Kid is asked to copy a series of abstract symbols within a certain time limit. Scaled score of 10 is not too bad (Average: 8-12) but whether or not he'll have problem in school depends on how much written work he is required to do. If excessive amount of repetitive writing is involved everyday, then it might be a problem, to you and to him.
The discrepancy is not necessarily a problem in itself as long as he is placed in a suitable learning environment. I think your psychologist should have explained clearly to you where your boy should go. Possibly s/he is clinical psychologist who knows little about schools...Merely labelling him does NOT help and AD/HD kids can not be helped solely by using medication.
The largest verbal/non-verbal gap I have seen is around 50!!! A boy I saw years ago with 30 marks discrepancy does very well in a well-known primary school at this moment.
If possible may be someone can start a topic about explaining test result and I'll try my best to compensate what was not done by my other colleagues... |
