My son will take grade 4 Clarinet exam this year-(P3 student). And he wanted to take Grade 6 exam next year, but before taking Grade 6 exam, he first need to pass the Theory.
After calculate which mean he need to take the theory exam on this coming Oct (Cause the deadline for exam register will be on March 2010, mean I need to receive the Theory's result by then). Don't you think is too rush? Normally how many months to prepare for the Theory?
If I take 2 lessons per week (1H), do you think is enough? Normally how much per hour for teaching Theory?
I think your son can start with 1 lesson per week now and see how see how's his progress from now till June, then if is necessary, can have 2 lessons per week during Summer holiday. Not sure whether your son is learning piano or not, if he has piano experience, it will be more easier to understand some of the theory concepts.
FYI, my daughter took about 35 weeks course (1 teacher to 2 kids) when she was in P2.

Thank you for your advice. But for the Theory teacher fee, is like market price, is hard to tell who is good.
I wanted my son to have class together with his sister, but I think she is too young to learn Grade 5 theory (P1).
