I had applied April intake for my son, but I'm still not yet rec'd any information. Do you think the chance is less for the April intake?

Dear tvoincy.

We originally applied for April intake HOWEVER they emailed me in November 2008 to inform us
no seat in April and to ask us if we are willing to wait for September intake.

Then we replied them to join setember intake by email.

Nothing being heard until in December - asking us to get together for "informal meeting" on 12/1/2009.

In the letter they passed to me on the "meeting" day, they confirmed us for AM class of Sept 2009 intake.

Does it help? Probably you can give a call to the school.

Thanks again Maria. So, where is your daughter going to? Have you made your decision yet? And where do u think you will let her go to in the primary years?

you mean now? or for K1?

We are struggling between Starters and KBCK for k1 (sept 2009).
It is why I ask for more inputs in the forum about Starters and KBCK.
We hope we can decide after 4 february - after the interview in KBCK.
Also CDNIS for a kind of better choice : ))
(We applied for their Pre-reception class and will attend the assessment on 14/2)
Regarding the P1, we wish JIS (Japanese international school - English section), CDNIS and Kellet. Wish is not teh same as the reality.
Otherwise, just wait for ESF-Kowloon Junior.
(We live in Ho Man Tin)

Hi Marinachira,

Maybe you can check with the school, I also turn down the pm offer at SWCK.
As I'm still on the am waiting list, probably I will pay the deposit for starters instead.

If you live in HMT, KBCK seems to be a good choice:

1) Reasonable school fee
2) Reasonable traveling time
3) Experienced teachers
4) I presume its relationship with KJS should be better than Starters

Thanks guys. What is KBCK? Would you all consider schools in HK if you live in Kln? I have never thought of that as i think location means alot to me and to my daughter. That's why I have never even apply for Starters cuz i really like SWCK. But is Starters better than SWCK? Why do u all turn down their offer?

I am thinking of going to SWCK and then CIS or CDNIS or German Swiss or ISF or worst come to worst ESF. Heard that there are many spaces in HK island for ESF as they have many schools on the HK side. Wow, very big thinking!!!hehe

Would you all consider schools in HK if you live in Kln? Yes, We are. It is because from my homes (both Ho man Tin and Tin Shui Wai) are more direct to HK island (like causeway bay, admiralty and wan chai). It is more difficult and time-consuming for us to Kowloon tong.

Why do u all turn down their offer? To me going to SWCK is indirect - it takes time to go uphill from Central. / Admiralty. It is my main reason - I told the same when I wrote the school to decline the offer.

Hi Tvoincy,

Noticed that you are also concern the school bus in the other post. You better check with SWCK regarding the school bus route since their school bus not cover most of the area in HK Island, esp for PM sessiion.

This is the reason why I need to turn down the offer in PM session since school bus not running either in Eastern side or Western side of HK

If I were you, I would in case of NO other back-up school(s) yet.

I think SWCK will finally offer you a place - no worries. Probably, you may talk to the school after CNY.

In their acceptance letter, there enclosed an info sheet about Bus Routes for SWCK:
Pick-up point at South Horizons
AM session pick-up time at 8;00-8;05
PM session pick-up time at 12:10-12:15
School buses are run by Castle Brothers Ltd.

wow...what a conditional question.....

I prefer SWCk to ESF, in terms of the atmospehere, the school philosophy, the objectives towards the children and the gut feeling, together with type of the 'classmates' (i.e. number of non-cantonese as native).

(fact that we turn these two offers down.)

Dear Maria,

I went to Starters this morning, Ms. Winnie had shown me around. My experiene is Ms. Winnie is very keen & helpful. Although Starters is small but the staffs look like very friendly. I had talked to the class teacher Mrs. Martin, she is very nice.

So I have place the deposit to secure a seat for the April intake. If there is no news from SWCK before March, I would let my son to go to Starters.

My son will go to lower kindergarten class (April), and Ms. Winnie advised that he should go to the upper kindergarten class in Sept, 2009.

I would choose SWCK for sure. Exactly the same as Maria's point of view.

As I do not have any backup school, so I had accepted the offer in Starters.

What do you think?

Your son will be promoted to Upper class in Sept 2009. Does it mean he will start P1 in ESF in 2010?
