Depends on your definition of "high standard". KYS will not teach 1 year or half year in advance. From my own point of view, the pace of teaching Chinese words is quite fast. Students who did not write or learn more Chinese words in K3 may have a hard time at the beginning of the term, like my son. I have to read more with him in order to catch up with the curriculum.
English, to be frank, is difficult to compare. Students in other schools may learn more in gramma, articles, writing sentences etc. However in KYS, the teachers do not follow the textbook this year. Rather, kids are required to read more books and learn vocabulary. To my son, this approach is not a problem since he loves reading English books. However, this may not be the expectations of other parents.
