想英文好,德望 (GH) or 聖瑪加利 (SMC) ?

Hi, little-duck & G-ma,
I fully agree with you.  Indeed, I try my best to speak English with my kid at home or sometimes outside area.  But not 100% full time.  Most of the time, my boy did enjoy speaking English with me too, but sometimes not. I will try to squeeze some more chance for this.

From reading all the comments from the BK parents about SM, I really want my son can be the lucky boy to be the SM student. I have reserved the seat for the P1 briefing on this coming Sat and I am sure I will submit the application form also. Hope SM can grant my son an opportunity for an interview and my boy can be the SM boy next year too.  

If eveything is lucky and smooth, can you share some more and be a friend with me ?

I used to communicate with my kid in English in majority in the past but have switched to more Cantonese this year.  Since I'm not a native speaker, my accent is not very accurate also  ...

My husband just told me that he read a news from today's newspaper which said the deadline for the enrollment of SM is due already....but why they will organise the 2nd round of briefing on this coming Sat..?

not yet ar. I just reserved the place for P1 briefing on Sat only. But I think I will prepare the form as well and submit it after the briefing.

May I know, if I submit the form, will the 1st interview be granted to every applicant ? If yes, how long will SM notify us for the interview ? Hope there will be a chance for us la..

佢地第二次說明會不知是否中學部, 佢website係仲有一次說明會. 但照舊年d家長所說, 有些家長係好早in 完等waitinglist, 但佢仍然照in第2 round 其他小朋友, 有d佢認為未係最適合既小朋友,會最後收.

坦白說, 我很喜歡優才, 我去過佢既open day, 觀察過很多野, 連厠所都睇埋, 各方面都很好, 我係一個很yim尖既人,我睇過佢既功課,出得很有心思, 應該係搵印刷公司做.
深淺程度ok,(原因優才原先係私校, 位於九龍塘) 數學教快半年,英文用外籍, 校長仲好後生+少少靚仔(個人觀感)

而且中學部已成熟, 大部份收band1. 佢係傳統+活動, 將來讀到中學, 學校會安排考GCE (英國會考), 又要考本地高考, 叻既可留港入大學讀專科, 摼番百幾二百萬, 有錢出國都好容易習慣. (因一直都係外籍跟英文)

但我無去報名, 原因我老公話遠, 仲話我short short 地. 而且佢既數學主要係中文, 亞女會讀唔掂.  


以上中學的資料, 由優才家長提供, 講得唔arm, 請各位家長提出.

你親戚不如選以下深d果間啦! 去到外國會好開心, 好似係地獄去了天堂, 我甥之前係讀好傳統既本地小學, 去了加拿大讀中學,就有上述感覺.

十分同意, 可惜有些家長, 明知成績追不上, 仍不願為子女選擇更適合的學習環境, 對名校戀戀不捨, 以身為名校家長自居, 貪戀虛名。
名校有著優良的配套和教學經驗, 但應量力而為。

多謝妳的建議及分析

親戚的女是K2,要看多一年才知是龍是鳳,若有信心在GHS考到每班前十名,就會讀GHS.相反,會選一間類似SMC的學校.

我是過來人，我本人小學及中學都係讀德望架，如果讀德望好辛苦，好深，又多功課，真真為考試而讀書lor，唔開心架。上到中學仲慘，有精英班同差班之分，成績差連老師都睇你唔起，同學之間地位身份都會攞黎比，有錢人同窮人０既待遇都好唔同。仲有成日都要俾錢架，少d經濟能力都唔得呀。你要好好諗清楚呀！唔係你覺得好就得架，小朋友返最緊要係開心。老實講在德望英文係會好，但在學校能學到０既課餘知識同品格唔多，因為好多老師都唔係用心去教導學生知識，只緊張自己班的成績，因為老師同老師間都會鬥lor,唔係好關心學生架。

cyrus-mummy, thanks so much for sharing. it's good to know from someone who has gone through 12 years of education there.  Could you also tell me:

1. if you had a daughter, would you send her there?  

2. if you had a choice, would you have preferred a co-ed school instead?  

i asked my daughter what if her school only had girls. she said she also wants to play with boys.

我朋友囡囡都遇到你所講既同樣情況, 佢話同學屋企個廚房都大過佢自己成間屋, 好似迷宮咁, 同學之間會內鬥, 會睇少d無咁有錢有權既同學仔.  佢宜家升中去咗第二間中學都不知幾開心.
