I agree your comment!  May I know if your girl had entered any nursery (N1) before her 1st year K1?  And whether she felt any difficulty at her 1st year K1?

All children must be at least 2 years and 8 months old when they go to K1.  Besides, they must be at least 5 years and 8 months old when they go to P1.  So if your kid was borned in Nov2002 and will go to K1 in 2005, then your kid will be "small son".  However, if you wait 1year, i.e. go to K1 in 2006, then your kid will be "big son" lah.

共讀左四年半幼稚/兒園,總萛今手畢業啦 ,佢第一年K1,我只係當佢返playgroup,無好要求佢做到咩,係學校比人蝦,做功課鬼五馬六,寫字初初寫係唔擦得,當時都唔知點好,咁諗住都會再讀多一年架啦,所以放開心情,由得佢寫,錯有錯著,咁佢自信心好左好多,跟住第二年k1,我先執佢要寫得好d,有左第一年既底,又大左一年,佢好輕鬆做到老師既要求,每一頁都有最高分既公仔(當然有時會有失手),功課做得整齊清潔很重要,考試評估當然重要啦,但功課係日積月累既野,對第時要做個profile都會比人一個好印象

到她k2時,細佬出細,都無乜時間陪佢做功課,但她都能做到好好,除左佢大左人一年之外,建立左佢既自信心係一個好重要既因素我覺得

另外,有好多課外活動都係由k2開始的,但佢遲左一年讀書,所以就可以由k1開始啦,錯覺好似係班裏面咁細個細路就咁叻咁,好似p1有三級琴,都係普通細路可以做到的,但佢K3有三級琴就好似少d(至少佢學校就得幾個咋),其實佢就好普通架

Hi Sindy,

2歲8個月是apply K1的 min. age, then any max. age?  My daughter is born at Oct  and I want her to be 大女 and defer 1 year to K1.  However, some Mummy told me that for applying K1, 大女would be at advantage, however, need to check clearly for P1 application, is any aged range set?  I am afraid my daughter will be too big and not fell between their aged range.  Not qualify for lucky draw??

入小一既年齡係由五歲八個月至七歲,即係早一年既九月開始收到第二年既年尾,你個女係十月,咁即係可以跟埋同年的小朋友或細佢一年既小朋友讀書,另外,唔係呢個range既年齡只要無參加過政府派位,都可以派位的,只係無左適齡既十分

Both my 2 friends are not Catholic, they themselves graduated from St. Paul's Secondary School (sister school of St. Paul's Convent School).
For the 2 girls studying P.3 and P.4 now, they attended kindergarten at Victoria. Years back St. Paul's Convent did enrol pupils from outside kindergartens but not now. As I remembered, they need to have written test for English, Chinese and Arithmetics. It was not easy, as mentioned by my friend, her younger daughter who was born on the 23 Dec. was on waiting list at that time, she was lucky enough that she received the acceptance letter just a month before school started.
The other friend's daughter is in K.2 now. She is a very cheerful little girl. She was accepted on the first round and she was born in August. She is a very talkative girl and not shy a bit, I think it's an advantage as she answered all the questions and always wear a smiling face, indeed she is a very lovely girl.

My daughter is also a small girl.  She is in K1 with only average performance.  I'm worrying if I should let her continue to K2 next year only repeat K1 because I'm afraid this will waste her time.

That mean my daughter (Oct/1999) still can qualify 適齡既十分.  Right?

My elder daughter who are now studying K2 at SPK.  As her classmate' mummy told me her 2nd daughter (born Mid Nov) also not accept by school for K1 last year (no waiting list offer also) even her sister is studying at SPK at the moment.  So, I am so worry for my 2nd daughter who are not the big girl.  My 1st one is born at June.  You know she is the smallest one in the class.  The biggest one in the class is from last Oct.  Almost NINE months older than my daughter.

Hi Sindy,

As you mention your daughter is K3 have Grade 3 piano std, want to know did you let her for test Grade 1 or start at Grade 3.  My daughter is now at TomLee 2nd year course, I want to look for the private tutor, any suggestion for me or still with TomLee until complete 2 yrs course?  Thank you.

估唔到而家收生咁緊...
我自己6姊妹都係讀spk一直讀上去的。以前姊姊讀緊，細妹大多直入的，但而家都唔同晒了。我記得我四妹當年都唔收佢K.1的，因為佢10月尾出世，sister說太細叫我媽咪遲一年先比佢入學。之後我妹在出面一間幼稚園讀K.1，仲兩個學期都考第一。到升K.2時我媽咪再搵校長，點知sister又話佢大喎！當時我媽咪真氣得要命！舊年又說細，今年又說大，sister你叫我點做好？最終sister比我妹插班K.2，但講明如追不上要讀番K.1。我四妹由細已是好brilliant的女孩，一路成績很好，F.5出國讀一年grade 13已入大學，未到20已大學畢業，所以細女都可以很出色的。
(嘻嘻！我四妹而家係加拿大佢都係BK mummy來的！如果睇到唔好罵我講晒你D野出黎喎！)

我的女女也是今年申請(SPK)入讀k1,但很可惜是waiting list, 校長話佢細, 話下年再試,但我的女女是九月出生,足令入學兒童,但沒辦法啦,最後我撰擇了聖瑪加利大,請給我意見,是否決定下一年再試SPK,或繼續讀聖瑪加利大?

Hi,
As I heard from some SPK mummy, for some rejected cases (like 細女), sister most likely will tell you 下一年再試SPK, but not guarantee.  So, you must let yr daughter to take 聖瑪加利, at least have that offer.  I also agreed with 麟媽媽, no guarantee to enter K1 even the kid are become big next year.

Most of my friends, parent make a interesting statistic, SPK like to accept a pretty, smart appearance girl plus foreign passport holder, did you hear before?

I wish I have a daughter but I only got a son.
I have been thinking of sending my son to SPK but was opposed by my husband. My husband was from an all boys school and he did have some schoolmates from St. Paul's and Marymount. He said boys from those school got stuck with all girls enviroment do no good for his son, I think he's a bit biased by saying those boys would become a bit sissy... Anyways, if I have a daughter, I wish she will be in my mother school as I have always been proud of.

For most of husband will oppose to send their son to all girls school, I can understand.  For SPK, I think almost 100% SPK' girls are keen to go to school, they are very enjoy their school life even my daughter who need to travel a long way from home (TaiPo), but she never say everything, she proud to be a SPK student.  She wake up 6:30am every early morning.
