You are right about mandarin is very important to children now. So your kid study in Kingston first, then HKPS.  May I know what is their wedsite?  I want to check their school in Kowloon Tong because it is closer to me.   I think may be HKPS match my requirment , they use mandarin , english and allow cantonese. I think it is an excellent choice.

From your message know that you live in Yuen Long and can drive your daughter to school in the morning only.  Actully Kingston do have kind of school bus, then you would need to send your maid too.  If HKPS accpet her in the morning, then I think it will be prefect because you can choose Fo Tan or Kolwoon Tong depend on where you work.
HKPS also serve your requirment in school for mandarin and english.

I have the same problem.  Kingston will not accpet my son in 2 yr old class because he born in Dec., my son actually is studying Yew Chung playgroup now. I personally like Kingston very much, except my son will need to repeat 1yr old class for the whole next year until June 2005.   Kingston already accept him for next term. But I still can not decide.

As for Yew Chung, no doubt it is a very good school.   But they don't teach Mandarin until K1 , till they will not focus so much because they believe in mother tongue teaching more as cantonese.  Only up to Primary and Secondary, they put strong focus on Mandarin.  This is my reason of thinking to change him from Yew Chung to Kingston.  But he will need to repeat in Kingston to be a big boy. My case is very similar to Ronnie.  Can I PM you my cell?

I trust that if your son is born in Dec, it might be better for him to repeat one year and become an older boy in class, this can help him with his self confidence. Imgine all the kids are older than your son, they are more capable in most aspects (social, physical, independence), how can he build his self confidence?

My daughter is in Kingston 3-year-old class, I am happy with the school. She is a happy and confident child, she loves learning and asking questions, this is because the teachers in school encourage children to ask questions. My second child will be born this November, I will enroll my kid in Kingston and let this kid repeat year one so to be an older kid in class.

1. I was talked that HKPS has a very good record of accepted by ESF school.  This year, all applicants were accepted.
2. Student are offered 1 hour/week after school hour to enforce their English capability (it is free of charge).

Hi I'm new in this topic  .  I would like to ask some questions about Kingston.   

If my daughter is now 19 months old, If I am sending her to a 1-2 old class in Kingston, will they accept my daughter for their kindergarten?  
Does Kingston has Primary school?  If not, what primary schools normally the kids will go to after finish kindergarten in Kingston?
Apart from the school fee, is there other expenses such as uniform, course materials, etc to be paid?  How much the extra cost is needed a month?
Lastly, is the 2-3 old class & 3-5 old class half day or full day?

My daughter is studying at Ascot. However the two schools are managed by the same principal.  The old principal is surpervising the two schools.

The course is the same except in KLN they have violin included but Ascot dose not have.

  Kingston has it own primary school located in Waterloo road, just opposite to Maryknoll Convent school. They admit all student from its kindergarten section.

  In addition, centainly, your daughter will be promoted to k1 directly when she finished 1-2 and 2-3 year old classes.

  According to its school fees, 學 費 已 包 括 簿 冊 、 圖 工 材 料 及 每 天 茶 點 費 。

   2-3 old class & 3-5 old class are half day .

I have finished to look up the HKPS's wed-site.  I have called them and it seems they will not accept any kids under 2 yrs old.  So they ask me to take application form in Nov. for new term in 2005.

Kingston policy is they will accpet your kid into 2-3yrs old class if she is 2yrs old by 31st Sept. 2004.  Kids born in Oct, Nov, Dec 2002 would be admitted in 1-2 yr old class.

Hi Prema,

I will send my daughter to Kingston Primary because I believe small class is good for her - she can get the attention she needs. Every year I attend Kingston's open day to talk to the teachers of Primary school, I find that that know their student very well and they are very proud of being Kingston's teachers, they are also very well trainned by the OB association. Therefore I have faith in the school.
I will not go for any other International school because I want my daughter knows about Chinese culture as afterall she is a Chinese. Also, I don;t want her to be too free like the western kids, they have no discipline. Up to now, Kingston is the right school for us, of course I will still open to other options, perhaps there are some new & good educators in the near future.

Can you let us know some more about Kingston? Do they have home communication book which your daughter has to bring to school everyday, so that you can communicate with school daily? Do they let you know the details of the theme? and do they inform you what do they going to teach child in the theme?

2) Do not have an up date info, it was around $8000 p.m. for P1 to P3
3) No need
4) I know there is priority given to Kingston Kindergarten students. There are two P.1 classes with 21 students each class. Don't know if the school will expand later if demand increases.

Do you mean kingston primary ?  My son is going to attend Kingston playgroup in August. He is in Yew Chung playgroup right now.

I think after Kingston primary , the choice is to most of the international school or english school.  It seems they have one connected secondary school  in 2 or 3 years time??  For this information I am not so sure because I have not decided whether my son will stay in Kingston for long term or not.

The secondary school connected with Kingston Primary is the existing "hoenix International" but it will be moved to Shatin in 2006 and will no longer named "hoenix".  I know Kingston is still looking for other high-quality alliances.
