P1 adjustment
2007-08 PLK TSL P1 Adjustment - Teachers' experience and effort
Dear P 1 mums,
Few observations if other mums will help to share their experiences:
1. My child did not know the names of his classmates and even some teachers' names after a week's class. In the kinder garden, the teachers put some effort to introduce themeselves to the kids and arrange some class orientations for the kinds to know each other. I have a bit worry that the children in the class felt alone and anxious without knowing each others.
2. My child was very fear of one of the PE teachers, vomit a bit when mention the name of the teacher, and have strong response to refuse to participate in the selection of school sports team where the teacher was responsible for the selection. I did not know what's happening, will other kids have same kind of response?
3. He enjoys the class where he knows the teacher's names and has initiated the idea that he would like to participate in the solo in the speech festival. He enjoyed to read the poem.
4. He enjoys doing homework and lunch time hours.
5. How does the class teachers facilitate the P1 students to engage with each other in the class during recess or morning hours?
6. What are the kids doing during 2:30-3:30pm.? My child reflects that they only read stories books, why not the teachers can make use of the time to conduct orientations to engage with the children at the begining of the semester. I think sense of belonging and engaging with each other is the most important issue at the begining stage of P1 adjustments.
