I heard EMB had requested all DSS school to use EMB's syllybus, IB could only be offered as part of the course.

would they allow students to take igcse instead? i doubt.

IGCSE 和 IB唔同。學校唔參加是學校的問題，不是教育局的問題。

General Information November 2007 - May/June 2008      

Participating Schools/Centres

Schools wishing to present candidates for the IGCSE/GCE examinations must be a registered school with the Education and Manpower Bureau. When a school applies to the HKEAA to become an IGCSE/GCE participating school, a copy of the registration certificate issued by the Education and Manpower Bureau should be attached to the application.
      
Registration details will be sent to all IGCSE/GCE participating schools before the scheduled registration period.

我兒子讀的國際學校, 學生15歲中學畢業, 17歲預科畢業(IB), 大部份都到外國升學, 去英國如Cambridge和Oxford的亦不少.
我的兒子現在11歲, 讀Year8, 到畢業都未夠15歲, 我知他的學校有學生15歲, 考到GCSE 8A*, 2A入了Cambridge.

你要搵教育局的官員問。

我估原因可能有：

1. 讀IB就不可能參加香港的中學會考，因為課程分別很大。IGCSE是以科目為單位，參加IGCSE，如安排適當，並不影嚮學生考香港會考。

2.我估教育局這麼遲才叫停IB，可能是因為他們發覺太多新的直資，未有成績和表現前，已想轉IB，如不叫停，情況會失控。這個政策其實並不影嚮歷史悠久的名直資中學，因為他們有足夠的資源去發展IB。

我覺得優才參加IGCSE是很聰明的做法。其實IGCSE和GCSE有分tiers，早些考corepapers並沒有問題。很多海外大學只認同新會考英文的5和5*級才符合語文的入學條件，而IGCSE510英文科C級或以上就可以了。即是說，很多優才初中學生已取得海外大學入學的語文條件。

國際學校的優點，傳統學校應該學習。

考評局已警告2007年中英文科sample/mock paper是不能在網上供下載的。那張考評局通告已寫得很清楚。那張通告指的就是考評局出的sample/mock/practice papers。
