The school has their own Chinese book. Not easy in my opinion, considering they only have 4 classes a week and I think the standard are similar to K3 local. Well, at lease for my son, as he hasn't learnt any of those things when he was in K2 at his kindy.
They learn pinyin, has a writing book and a vocab book where they use mostly in class and only comes home once a week. The chinese text book get sent home at the weekend for you to revise with your children. Family needs to be quite hands on if you wanna do well in Chinese I guess. The school doesn't give you enough homework but the expectation is high.
There's only 2 pathways in Y1 but I think they group them into 3 anyway. My son was at the bottom of a class where most children are mostly likely to be in pathway 3 in Y2. My son is not doing so well with writing, as I did not spend time with him at home on extra work and only relied on the homework given, which i think was not enough. Sorry, I'm one lazy mum and I guess I will find out whether he gets to stay at pathway 3 next year or get moved to pathway2 instead |
