Hi all RC parents,

I would like to seek your opinion on RC's language environment because one of my reason to let the kid to study in IS is to let the kid to learn native accent english. I understand that RC has, may be 90% local student, but I think local students can still speak native accent english if  they speak with other native accent speaking kids in early childhood.

So I would like to know whether RC can provide such environment to the kids. Or is there any rough estimate of how many native accent speaking kids (chinese or foreigner) in a class?

Thanks for your information.  Can you provide me more information for Y1 student that parents need to aware.  For examples:

1. School bag and stationary
2. Lunch arrangement (do we need to bring personal forks, chopsticks..., looks like silly question but I want to know more)
3. Toliet ...

1) 我聽學校的人講，讀Year 1的小朋友的書包唔一定要買學校那個的，因為他們好似無書的，但借圖書的袋就一定要買，否則就無得借書的。而文具就是要俾錢買的，今年是275元，開學時要俾的。

個通告係RC直接email俾家長的。他要求每個小朋友都要有以下的準備的：

1) 一套spare clothings：有上衣，下身，socks，一套underwear要擺係學校的。
2) 每天要有水樽，零食取回學校
3) 於8月20日回校時要自備一張相交給class teacher
4) 文具是不用自備的，因為那275元是包了的。

May I ask the teacher to students ratio?  Is it same as ESF that it is 1:30?

Hi schiu999,

My kid started Y2 in RC, so I don't exactly know what Y1 kids should bring to/from school.  But I assume there are student handbook, worksheets, workbooks, books & exercises for Chinese class, etc.  Kids may need to borrow books in class daily.  There are sometimes art & craft that your kid made in school for bringing back home.  In winter, they also need to put their windbreaker or fleece into the school bag before they enter the classroom.  So, the size of the school bag big enough for Y1-Y2 kid is necessary.  The RC school bag is too big & heavy for Y1 kid & it's not compulsory.  Better buy it somewhere else.  The library bag is just for checking out books from the school library once a week.  All stationeries are kept in school, so you DON'T need to prepare a set of stationery for bringing to school.

A snack bag is also needed for putting in a small snack box, water bottle & school hat.  Kids bring their snack bag with them during recess.

You don't need to bring anything for lunch if you order lunch from the school canteen.         

Young kid may have ACCIDENT when going toilet.  That's why spare clothings (underpant, pant, tee) are needed to be kept in school.

Remember to label your kid's name & class on all belongings & clothings.  Hope these help.

我想問下你小朋友的中文學習進度，未知他未入讀前的水平和已讀了一年後的水平比較。我絕對明白國際學校的中文投放資源一定不及傳統/直資學校的多，但我亦想約略知道好讓我去安排一些額外的中文班給我女兒。謝謝。

沒90%港生那麼多, 不到80%, 今年更多收了不少外籍生.

聽聞，舊年的外籍學生都不少，
我自己觀察的是，金髮的西洋小孩多些，但亦見有印巴裔，及黑人。即使是華人，有很多是外國回流的；
我有朋友舊年從加拿大回香港，孩子都入了 RC 中學部。
朋友說，今年應該會更多 "鬼仔鬼妹"。

對, 今年的Y7大部分是外籍, 原因是, 今年學校"有得揀", 很多外籍學生報名, 每班約有三分之一外籍(外籍, 不一定金髮, 當中有:中日中韓中西混血)

I'm very very frustrated with the school uniform services. I ordered the P.E. uniform for my son in mid August, and I kept calling them and going to the shop to check out the availability myself and everytime I was disappointed. They can't even tell me a timeline to expect for. And, my son was crying for not having his uniform for P.E. days. Until last Friday, the P.E. shirt was still unavailable ! I called the uniform shop lady and asked for a refund. She said I can go to the shop to get it. But when i arrived the shop, the lady there (another lady) said she does not know about that. And she asked the previous lady to come and handle my case. But that 'previous lady' kept chatting with another parent outside the shop and did not come in until i urged her ! and then, i heard them saying that actually new stock of the P.E. shirts was available earlier, just that they sold out immediately without informing the parents who have ordered the shirts to take their products first !!! I'm really mad with their messy services ! They earned so much money from the RCHK parents/students and I really think they should provide more human resources and better services ! I made the complaint to the school via email but got no feedback so far !

Also, I think the cafeteria is charging too high, actually outrageous ! For 5 or 6 shaomai that cost $5 outside, they charge $10 ! for one small bottle of Yakult they charge $3 ! and for the lunch which usually charge $15 in local school, they charge $25 !
