高興在9月19日晚聽到數學老師說, 五年級會教完小學數學課程, 並會在五年級下學期開始用英語教數.

有好多數學相關的英文名詞都是由小學生開始教比較好, 其他的比如 square, rectangle, cone, trapezium, cylinder, cylindrical cube, acute angle, add, minus, subtract, multiply, product, divide, division,  ...

還有triangle, pyramid, sphere, spherical, vertex, line, point, segment, angle, acute, obtuse, perpendicular, vertical, horizontal, parellel, equivalent, equal, sum, product, ...實在數不勝數.

小學生不掌握數學的英文專有名詞, 不容易改為英語教數.

我都覺得要早一點給他們時間去預備用英文學數學, 但我之前小一開家長會時, 老師係話小一至小三用普通話, 小四至小六用英文ga......e家又會咁嘅~~~~~~

我也記得 "老師話小一至小三用普通話, 小四至小六逐漸用英文"  因為課本是中文,  很難做到, 不知學校會不會考慮在英文堂教些英文數學名詞.

我反而覺得我選培僑是因為學校不會像其他私校傾向催谷學生，可以給小朋友一個愉快的學習環境。至於學校何時選用英語教數學，個人沒有特別的要求。如果孩子的語文根基好，對掌握英數應該不會有太大困難。在其他中文小學的學生，很多時他們上英語課也不是全英語教學，上了英中也能適應自如，我們學校是用全英語上課英文課的，我想更不用擔心我們的孩子對英數的適應能力。

What you said is right, but I can also see the concerns of many parents who are worrying about the English standards of their kids.  I have never seen one worrying about the PuTongHua standard of PKC students.

Personally I don't have no worry at all about the standards of PKC English teachers or their teaching method.  But my child told me one uncomfortable fact: some kids with English mother tongue are actually using Cantonese during recess (bearing in mind that they did not use Cantonese in Grade 1).  

Well, that is understandable, these foreign kids also need friends and somebody to play with, and Cantonese is a convenient tool to make friends and play.

Can anything be done encouraging or can any incentives be given to kids speaking more English in school?

For sharing, my child attended English speaking play group (whole day) during summer holidays.  They are not allowed to speak Cantonese.  They had chart on the board.  If anyone spoke Cantonese, they would be deducted one mark from 100.  These kids are competitive, and they want to win.  So every time when some kids spoke Cantonese, they would just yell out "Oh! Cantonese", and the teachers or the assistants will make a record for deductions.

Looking at them is fun.  They did not speak much Cantonese at recess even all of them are Chinese.
The prizes they got are just pencils and erasers or rulers.  But they like to win very much.  
The important is that these kids don't think they are learning English.  They just think that they are playing throughout the day, though the only language allowed is English.

That may not be workable in PKC, but this is certainly an idea for reference.

The school bus company did not improve.  On 30 Sept, the bus was 25 minutes late, and nobody called.  

This is not typhoon this time.  Bus company could hvave given notice if they were to be late.

Phone calls should have been made by the auntie in bus.  Last year this was done,why not this year.

Service deterioting?  can it be improved?

作為家長，我非常理解你的感受，特別是當校車遲到，家長會擔憂出了什麼問題。根據校巴公司給我的信息，他們是有指引給校車阿姨的，如果校巴因故遲到15分鐘以上，校車阿姨就需要打電話給家長，告訴他們估計會遲到多久，讓家長放心。但是在執行過程中，因為種種原因，阿姨沒有及時打電話給家長。我已經把9月23日及9月30日兩次遲到的例子反映給校巴公司的管理層，並要求他們再次向所有阿姨作出訓示，要求阿姨執行上述指引。希望他們會作出改進。

同時希望各位和我一起監察校巴的服務，讓他們有所改進。

我也有一些對校車服務的意見。我家的車站﹐今年有一個學生常常遲到﹐要校車等他﹐每一次校車都等到他來才離開。最離譜一次是﹐校車等了很久也不見人﹐最後校車先去其他站接其他學生﹐然後再回來我家的站(我家的車站是頭站)接那個遲到學生。這樣其他學生便要很遲才回到學校﹐試過回到學校時﹐所有學生已排好隊準備上課室。慢慢地校車便遲一點才到﹐以減少等候時間。後來有一次校車準時﹐但那個學生仍是遲到。。。結果校車便宣佈更改到站時間遷就他!
為甚麼一個學生遲到﹐校車便更改時間遷就他﹖難道其他學生不重要嗎﹖校車有沒有需要全車學生去遷就一個經常遲到的學生﹖難道那學生/父母不要學習守時嗎﹖
我家小孩很喜歡每日上課前跟同學玩耍的時間﹐但今年便沒有了這個權利﹐他很失望!

聽到都嬲, 校車公司不能對守時的學生和父母懲罰, 而對經常遲到不負責任的行為姑息縱容甚至簡接鼓勵, 這給我們孩子們什麼學習經驗, 為了不蝕底真的要有樣學樣不理別人的寶貴時間和感受嗎?  社會不是這麼運作的.

校巴公司應該嚴肅處理同類事件!!!

請問現在可以在那兒買到學校風褸? 由於今年運動服轉了公司, 我打電話去問, 佢地話還未收到學校指示, 佢地連樣板都未起好。
