I designed my daughter's portfolio before knowing this BK forum. And I hadn't viewed other portfolio before. I agreed with your view that a portfolio must be eye-catching, not a "yellow pages", not many words.

I noted that many mothers got sample portfolio and letter here. Just a friendly reminder that use your creative mind and think careful on what you want to 'sell' to school. As if you just duplicate from others (format, style), it can't impress school as they would receive many and found all are in a standard format.

Whether a portfolio help, I considered to some extent yes. So far my daughter got places from all private school she tried including Scared Heart, Kln Tong Pri sch, Kau Yan and Creative; except St Paul Co-ed.

I learnt from my daughter that the interviews questions were straight forward and daily life issues. I am sure most kids could answer without great difficulty.   Then how to select among hundreds kids ? Hence, I thought that the portfolio could give some information to the school immediately if s/he wanted to know more.

Last, I did attach a letter in the porfolio and the theme of my portfolio was to tell school that my kid grows from a family with love and she is a healthy girl with healthy life. She only got one certificate about learning ballet.

I agreed the kids' profile must be attractive & focus!  not yellow page!  May be some mis-understand the profile for a kid only for 6 can sales like a commerical proposal!  What i alway mentioned is the good relationship between the family, how warm is your family, so i said thousand of time that the profile should made together with you kid, not mama herself only.  for my case, my boy didn't join any formal course or get any cert while he in kindergarten time.  i never push him to study any said interest class or eng class, he only playing all day long.  What i teach him - must hv a warm heart to care others, even for some strenger elders.

profile is the first impression for your kid but not all, remeber not push your kids to study too much only for the credits for apply school. life is long, kids must live happily!

Ah! just get a good news, one mama told me that her kids get her targets school(s)!  Great!  Hope all of you can hv the luck
