2/3 of the HKU law graduates can get places of its PCLL >> 星期六info day 個講者話HKU LLB graduate 9 ...
According to the 2023 legal education report, a total of 126 students were admitted to undergraduate programs at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Additionally, 174 students were accepted into the four LLB dual-degree programs. Furthermore, HKU admitted 54 students for the Juris Doctor (JD) program, bringing the total number of admissions to approximately 354 students.
Assuming a consistent admission pattern over the years, 283 students were admitted to the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) program, with 78% holding a HKU law degree. Out of the total 354 students, around 220, representing a maximum of 62% would be admitted to HKU's full-time PCLL. The part-time PCLL program would enroll an additional 102 students, with 73% holding an HKU law degree. This results in a total of 74 students.
When we combine the 220 students from the full-time PCLL with the 74 from the part-time program, the maximum percentage of students with HKU law degrees reaches 83%.
Consequently, the claim of a 95% admission rate does not appear to be substantiated assuming that all JD and dual degree students were interested in PCLL.
P.S. While some students may choose to pursue the PCLL at CityU or CU, the proportion of these students is not significant enough to accurately reflect the figures.
