I'm quite ok myself, I only go to the hospital once in the morning,take a nap in the afternoon, and play with Jasmine and Justin in theevening. Without the new baby at home, life doesn't seem to havechanged much, only that I feel more comfortable without the heavyweight in my tummy, haha.

My baby is still in the hospital. She's got a heart defect and wouldprobably need a surgery to fix it. I'm not quite sure what the problemis. The doctor mentioned there's a small hole in the heart but didn'tthink it was a big problem. The bigger problem is that one of the smallveins in the heart is missing and that might be the cause ofaccelerated breathing. They did an x-ray for her yesterday and foundthat the heart is a bit enlarged, which might be a sign of early heartfailure. They'll refer the case to the pediatric cardiologist (a doctorwho specializes in heart defects in children) in the hospital anddiscuss what to do next in the coming few days.

Had any of your kids got a cardiac problem or done a heart surgery when he/she was a baby? Can you share your experience?

Excuse me if you could not understand the jargons, it takes too long to type in Chinese. Ask me if you have any questions.

Hei Hei 出世時心臟都有問題,呼吸困難要靠儀器幫助,要訓保溫箱,
亦有照X-ray,和做很多檢驗,不過我到以家都唔咪好明白醫生講D野?
Hei Hei要食甲狀腺素和覆診,身体都冇乜問題,所以你不要太擔心,keep返身子,唔好諗咁多?妹妹交由醫生照顧,因為當時我都不敢去諗BB情況?都係交由醫生照顧!

I have this book - medical & surgical care for children with down syndrome by D.C. Van Dyke.  There is a chapter on heart disease and children with down syndrome.  Detailed information.  I'll ask papa to scan the relevant pages and send to your email.

Dear Catca,

Is that any confusion? The true is I built my first Blog at yahoo, NOT hanhanmama.
We know Matthew have cardiac problem when first day, he got 1 big hole and 2 small hole, he waiting the OT at hospital but always fever, so delay to 6months start the OT, and 1 months rest in hospital, at last he go back to home when he is 7 months.
Now he is everything ok, you have see Matthew before, do you agree? Matthes is so healthy now!!
Pls don't worry, this is not a big problem,doctor and nurse will take care Janet, pls take care your self. Pray for both you and Janet.

Dear friends
Thanks alot for your support indeed. I'll be fine, so will Janet. I'mnot too worried about her condition but just want to know more to getbetter prepared.
Got good news from the doctor today. Janet is NOT suffering from heartfailure, so there's no need to give her medicine. But they'll stillkeep check on her heart defects.
She's drinking 20ml of milk every two hours, and she doesn't need to befed with a tube now. You've read in my blog that I could hold her in myarms for the first time, AND, feeding her all by myself! You canimagine how excited I was!
Will keep you updated of her situation. Thanks for your prayers!
