有「俠醫」稱譽、在龍蛇混雜的油麻地區執業三十年的寶血醫院院長余宇楷，○一年接受前列腺腫瘤切除手術後，左手手腕麻痹長達十六個月才康復。由於一位外科專家手腕麻痹便有如被廢武功，不能為病人做手術。聲稱月入超過六十萬元的余宇楷，認為導致手腕麻痹是做手術時麻醉師的疏忽，遂向麻醉科醫生陳志強索賠七百萬元，案件昨於高等法院開審。
現年七十三歲的余宇楷，昨日親到法院出席聆訊，其代表律師在開案陳詞中指出，余宇楷○一年五月二十六日在聖德肋撒醫院做手術，被告人陳志強是手術的麻醉科醫生，而在手術後，余宇楷發現左手產生放射性神經麻痹，左手腕向下墜，不能向上伸展。

代表律師續稱，余宇楷作為一位外科手術醫生，行醫多年，他操刀為病人做的前列腺手術超過一百宗，當年六十八歲的余宇楷在接受手術前，曾經與主診醫生及麻醉科醫生陳志強見面，雖然陳志強有提醒他手術後可能會有麻痹徵狀，但沒說明會對哪一方面的神經造成影響。

控麻醉科醫生疏忽
按照余宇楷憶及被送到手術室後的情況，他的雙臂與身體成九十度攤開，然後進行麻醉。至當日傍晚，他接受手術後甦醒，突然覺得左臂疼痛，稍後他試圖伸手調節氧氣罩位置，發覺左手麻痹，主診醫生及陳志強翌日前來看他，陳志強還解釋余宇楷的情況，可能是左手的軟組織水腫造成，三、四個星期內便復原。

不過，余宇楷左手腕下墜的情況遲遲沒有好轉，令他不能為病人施手術，○二年四月雖然漸有改善，但他仍只能施行一些簡單的手術，直至同年九月才完全康復。

月入逾六十萬元
原告人余宇楷認為，造成他手部麻痹，可能是在手術期間，左手臂局部長期受到重大的外在壓力，令其左手的放射性神經受損，倘若治療時獲得合理的照顧，這情況應可避免，並認為被告人陳志強有疏忽之嫌，要求陳志強賠償他在該段時間的損失。

索償金額方面，代表余宇楷的律師在開案陳詞透露，余宇楷於○○至○一年三月止的年度內，總收入逾八百一十五萬多元，平均每月約六十七萬九千餘元，但○一至○二年度，其收入驟降至五百四十萬元，雖說余宇楷於○一年五月底接受手術後要休養兩個多月，但收入減少的原因，實為他的左手腕麻痹，令他不能為病人施手術，為此要推掉不少手術。

I may introduce a good surgical doctor to you. She is very very good and not expensive. She is a Christian, not only concerns my health but my feeling as well. It's a pity that I met her too late as my second son has already taken that operation in 2001.
In Nov 2003, she have cut a  血瘤 on my face and left nothing, not even a tiny scar on my face. But the only issue is that she has too many patients, might have to wait and queue up for a long time.

I'd also recommended her to one of my old classmate whose son took the operation in last summer. Stayed in Precious Blood Hospital for 1 night, total cost around 5 to 6 thousand.
I remembered my son's total cost for that operation was 17,xxx.

In the past two years while I was still living in Liberte, I brought my son to school everyday and chatted with other mothers until 8:30, (but just 1 to 2 mothers only as not many mothers stayed behind), then I went back to the office. But now, both my home and my office have been moved. My sons take the school bus and I can't take the Tung Chung line in Nam Cheong Station anymore.
