各位RC家長,

請問學樂器可以自己在外面學嗎?  是否一定要學一樣樂器

你好。我女兒今年八月會入讀Year 1，我想請問：

1)午飯是否一定要食學校內提供的飯盒呢？
2)可否自己取飯給她食呢？
3)這麼年幼的小朋友，未知學校會不會有什麼特別的安排提供呢？如午飯，上學等。
4)師生的比例呢？

Answering your questions :

1) No, you can also bring your own lunch
2) No, you can't deliver the lunch to school. But your child can bring her lunch in her schoolbag
3) They will have assistant watching them, but won't help them much. It should be ok. My son could handle it last year when he was Yr. 1
4) around 1:25-30max.

Dear tweetybird,

The school lunch in Renaissance Cafeteria is very nice and delicious. 90% of the students are enrolled lunch in the school.

For year 1 students, they will be lead by the class teacher enter the canteen and  they can find their seats easily. Moreover, the menu is well designed and healthy to small kid. So dont worry about that as most of the year 1 students can take care themselves. And food can be refilled as many as they can .

On the other hand, I saw some year 1, they do not know how to open the rice box and how to handle the remains after eating.

2) Should be ok. I asked my helper to cook and prepare the food in the morning instead of just giving my son the food from night before.
And in summer, you can consider giving your kid sandwich, sushi roll  (without raw fish of course, we usually put egg, sausage, etc).

Y3的某男生當司儀, 介紹不同的環節, 3JP的早已坐在台上, 佈好了陣.

前菜: 幻燈片介紹學生IB活動的片段

頭盤:
(一) Mr. Collinge 介紹了某初中女生來一個木琴表演, 再是小司儀介紹一位在校際音樂節大小提琴都得獎的男生表演得獎曲目.

(二) 三位參加了渣打馬拉松的學生分享心得.

(三) 三班Y3用不同的形式, 報告最新UOI的學習成果.

甜品: 一男一女初小生分別拿了"咪", 在台下訪問同學們關於"LOW RESOURCES DAY" 的看法, 小朋友都爭著發言.

埋/買單: 中國小孩的英語都很流利, 只是一部分的口音還是挺"港化"的, 相信再過一個學期, 慢慢兒會好起來.

我剛参观過學校, 硬件相當不錯, 但有樣嘢令我感到驚訝的是
98% 的學生在課堂以外, 全部都speak Cantonese with their classmates, 無論小息. 放學 或自言自語, 或者甚至高年班在樓下做實驗時, 他們都好似local school 一樣用廣東話交談, 鬼佬老師則坐在一邊自己寫嘢, 沒有干預.

好奇怪的感覺.

Renaissance now have 6 class Y1 about ~20 students each.

School hour from Mon to Fri 9:00am to 3:00pm,
25 mins recess and a hour lunch at 12:00noon.

Do you know the detail of admission test?

In fact, I always can't understand why parents have problem with their kids speaking their mother tongue ? As long as they can command a good proficiency in English, what's wrong for keep speaking their mother language ?

I totally agree with RC's policy to allow children to speak Cantonese during recess and lunch time. While, in classroom except Chinese lesson, the students are 'prohibited' to speak Cantonese for the sake of their English teacher, it's an act of respect. Which, I can't agree more.
