I am going to apply P1 for my kid who is almost 5 years old.   Do you know the ratio of Chinese and foreigner in a class ?

It's been a week after the first day of school...

actually we are the new comers of ICS and my son is now studying in G1C...he is happy for sure yet it definitely takes time to get used to since everything is brand new for him or i should say US...

one thing for sure, teachers, staff , students and parents there are SUPER friendly. i pick him up and i do see a lot of happy faces there...to my surprise, quite a lot of working parents (especially dads) try best to pick the angels up...SALUTE!
you guys and gals are SUPER.

Yes..parents seem very involved at ICS.

Yeh! G1C's teacher is a very nice teacher, and also most of parents were willing to be as helpers last year when my daugther was in G1C.
Especially, the teacher will issue notice for inviting parents to help on every Fridays for PlayDay outside or other functions.  
I have to go to work, so I haven't join their helper group, but if you have time , you may consider as a helper, I think that is good time to comprehend your child's performance at school.

I felt some laboriously to check my daughter's homework and prepare her bible test (on Thursday)and spelling test (on Friday), now she is in G2, is totally difference G1.

totally understand the hardship of handling homework. actually i m  a working mom as well but since i am having summer vacation...i can be with him for a few days.

I was at the Back to School Night tonite.  Although my son is only in P1, I started to feel stress for him already.
They were talking about the Chinese studies placement test iin G1....and I was a bit worried about that since my son doesn't read or write Chinese.  They also need to memorize bible verse every week.  They have to revise their Chinese studies material at home everyday after school....all of a sudden I felt that my son has grown up and he is no longer in kindergarten anymore!

CherylMum,
They are provided a book and a CD.  They need to take those home to practice the material (just verbal, not written yet) with the CD.
My son was a bit clueless...so I had to practice with him.

yes, our little boys and girls have grown up in a way that we dont realise...and suddenly, to our surprise, they have grown up!!!

CherylMum, I felt more heavy because she was at G1 didn't required to prepare any written dictation.  But now, every Thursdays Bible Test and Fridays Spelling Test, and need to be submitted homeworks by daily with checking by hometeacher. On the contrary, at G1 only submitted homeworks on every Mondays. So, I have that feeling.
In fact that the local schools at HK are also like this practices (homeworks per day), merely that we could not adapting the mode.  :wink:

CherylMum, that is depends on your kid who whether willing to do homework before you come back home.  If my daugther finished her homework before I come back, I only spend about an hour for checking and revising the homework with study bible or spelling, but she does not do so, I should have double time to complete above things.
So, I have to train up her discipline and responsibility.

Ah....we should all prepared for revising homework for our kids!!  How stressful it is!

No, my daughter is in G2 right now, the reason why I felt heavy-duty on her homeworks because there are too difference in workload between G1 and G2.
How about your kid, does he/she can adapt to ICS life? I hope you are better than me to handle child's studies with skills.
