I just responded to the title of this post “2022 IB Results”.

Although my kid is going into IBDP program this Aug, but she is targeting colleges which will offer animation, game design or digital arts program. University placements may not be so helpful to us.

I am not questioning you, I am questioning the article where the author provides a general view on “true” IB results.  

For your case, just curious; there must be more than one school with animation, game design and digital arts, right?  And there must be differences in terms of the quality of the education provided by these universities, right?  Or you and your child have no preference in which school/Uni?

My kid is still in primary age and she is very interested in animation and digital arts.  Could you share what courses your kid took in primary and secondary years that have helped contribute to his development in this area?

For a general uni/college which offer animation programs, of those got the offer from this uni, maybe only 1 out of 100 or even lower went for its animation programs?

For specialised VA schools/colleges, my impression is that within each cohort of IBDP graduates in HK/SG, less than 5% go to VA schools/colleges.  And within those 5%, there may be only 2-3 every 5 years will go for animation programs.

I think there’s just not enough info from Uni placements in our case.

It’s just my kid loves Japanese anime.

And besides the usual VA courses, my kid will volunteer to do the art works in every group project.

Ok it is a niche section of the cohort but I would imagine if a school has experience in successfully placing all kinds of students in all kinds of excellent unis, that is an indication of a strong school support team in Uni applications and counselling.

My kid told me that Sheridan College’s animation focuses more on story-boarding while CalArt’s on 3D.  It’s just happened the concentration of the program matches my kid’s interest.

My kid is also looking at the animation job prospects in the country where the college is located, and hope the program can help find intern job as well as permanent job. My kid loves Japanese anime and manga, but not the work culture there.
