Well, I am given a note tdy that my daughter is only on waiting list of the percussion class.

Lunch box delivery job should last for a year, not only 2 mths. They called me that day too to ask for assistance. After checking is a whole year job, I said "sorry" I could not spend too much time.

I am also interested in knowing the criteria being selected to the percussion class.

Mission:
Percussion class has waitlist??? If they think the girl needs help, they should help them now instead of later.

Now, I know some of the jobs have to be done by parents at home. Teacher will not teach them.

In my situation, the Chinese standard of my daughter is not very high.  I need to explain to my daughter every word/phrase after a chapter is taught and ensure she know how to reuse them in other situations.  I doubt how they teach the chapter in school.

Yup, I spent an hour on telling her the story of the mooncake secret. She does not understand most of the Chinese vocabs.  元朝?蒙古人?漢人? 起義?壓逼? So hard to explain these wordings.

For Eng, She is = She's, We are = We're, We will = we'll....etc. I need to teach hard and she needs to learn hard.

Yes, the first English dictation will contain unseen part already so you need to help her to understand basic sentence structure.  Example:

"It is a dog" my daughter write "Eat is a dog"

In Chinese and GS (start in P2) test and exam, there are questions not cover in text book.  Example:

"select a road that is closed to the school"  My daughter take school bus from door to door and don't know about the roads.

It's tough!!

Is yr girl in P.2? Unseen dictation should not be in P.1, right? So difficult. Don't frighten me!

But the homework so far looks easy. I found my girl only practising strokes in Chi and writing A-Z in Eng. Unseen dictation in P1? I doubt my girl can make it.

Yes, unseen dictation starts in P1, the first dictation when the teacher tell you that they will dict a-z, A-Z and your name only.

The example is the actual case of my daughter 2 years ago.  When you prepare for the first dict, make sure that she know "he, she, they, we, is, are, have, has, etc".

I don't feet any pressure in P1 and her result is very good as well.  However, in P2, difficulty starts because her Chinese foundation is not good.  Difficult to make sentence and composition.  Even more difficult in GS and the scope is so wide!

How many activities does your girl take after school? Can she manage?

Plato,
She attend trumpet class on Monday and school choir on Wed (assigned by the teacher).  We cannot take anything (swimming, dramma, drawing,etc) more because she need to practise violin and piano as well.  Time is getting tight.

Now P1 girls are better better because of the strict in to secondary school.  I am really worried whether she can get a place to the secondary school.

Hi mercury 16,

1. As St. Mary's is a subsidized school and don't have her own affiliated kindergarten, your daughter's kindergarten background does not count (not as some of the renown private/direct subsidized schools).
2. St. Mary's 一至三年級採用活動教學
3. There is not much homework for P1. Some of the homework will be completed at school.
