都唔係呀，其實我個女6個月前都係同你仔仔差不多o乍，但係我都唔知點解佢自己會進步神速，我都唔係好勤力同佢看書，只係好勤力買書    因為成日看你o地o的post忍唔住麻！    家裡的VCD、DVD都係亂o甘播比佢看(因為印印都係亂來的)但係佢自己可能找到看書的樂趣，我又成日在家扮看圖書，一邊看一邊笑下、扮讀下o甘(其實我係扮下o野引佢)等佢摸仿我(因為佢好鐘意扮我的。
我都係因為復活節大執書時，將之前買的OST都唔理o甘多放o西出來，先知原來佢識睇o乍。
所以我想唔o西太刻意o卦，開o左個頭佢o地小朋友會自己跟住去o架啦，因為求知慾其實係小朋友的其中一種好大的需要來o麻。
其實我在letterland好耐無發言了，因為除了好忙之外，是我自己都有一些關於letterland的問題未解決到(其中一個問題，是510問過的關於annie apple發音的問題)，不過我個女間幼稚園上兩個月搞o左四堂免費letterland parents course，係學校個鬼婆教，我將我心裡的問題都問過佢之後，我就安落好多，所以夠膽再在le度講下o野lu
我programme two自己就看完了，但係我會取捨一些topics未必用letterland的方法教，因為講真，有某一些故事好似jokey所講，都係幾『監梗』的。

I have been the showroom yesterday. I had bought the ABC book and alphabet song CD again, yes again. I had classic version at home. But I have never pay effort to do it, so just play the alphabet song CD at home like background music. I found the "new look" is very attactive, so I bought it again. I read the 'New Look" ABC book to my kid last night, she was quite interesting on it.

May I know is there anyone here using the "New Look" version? What do you think about it?

Anyone know where I can buy other letterland products except the Hong Kong agent in Tai koo shing. As I found the price they sells are really high, the early year hand book are now HKD 352 but before just HKD 270. Anyone can help??

Can I easy found "Letterland" products in any bookstores in England??

Have anyone been the London's airport? Do you think that I can found some "Letterland"'s products in London (Heathrow) airport?

Hi marieyuen,

It's me again.  I've sent you a note in another area but that is also regarding phonics.  Not sure if you've read that.  Anyway, just saw your note here (and I've read some of the notes you posted before regarding letterland and jolly phonics).  I noticed that your girl have problem in blending words after using letterland around a year ago.  How's her situation now?  From your current note, seems that the problem has been fixed.  If you can choose again, you'll choose jolly phonic instead of letterland for your girl?  Did you send your girl to letterland learning centre to study their program?

Appreciate if you could share me some experience since I plan to have my girl start the phonic program this summer (she's 33 months old now) but just struggling which one to start with!

如果比我再選，我都係用letterland，因為延續性大好多，我無比我個女去過任何一個letterland的centre度學phonics，大部份都係我自己教佢的，有些是佢問起我，我就用letterland來解譯。
不過我個女間kindergarten都係用letterland，但由於佢係K1，教的只是early years的課程，我女未入學已經識左，不過同學及老師都知letterland係o羊會令佢更喜歡letterland。
如果你想send小朋友去centre學phonics，用jolly phonics或其他的成效相信會唔錯，但係如果用letterland，可能需要長些的時間，效果可能唔係好快見到，我始終覺得letterland適合媽媽同小朋友做home schooling多些。希望我的個人意見幫到你。

I learn from Kittylock that we can buy letterland 2nd hand products in ebay.co.uk.
Can you share the experience that what is the postage cost normally?
Do you know whether we can buy 2nd hand books in Hong Kong? as I am interesting to have the letterland storybook and earlier readers sets. I am afraid I can't wait for a month to get the products if I order it from UK.

Have you calculate how much do you spend for buying books for your daughter? It seems that I can't stop myself to buy books for her everytime when I found interesting topic.

Just out of curisoity, may I know which kinder does your daughter studying now?

I bought Phonic Kid too, but my kid didn't like, she always ask me to switch off the CD player when I play the phonic kid CD.

I choose the "new look", as they are more colourful and modern, font on ABC book has been changed, it is more clear and easiler for me to read.

Please be remind that the price has been increased, if you are planning to order it through fax, please phone to them to check the updated price beforehand. But I observe that the price they sell in Hong Kong is about the GBP price (shows on letterland website ) X 16 => hong kong retail price.

I've glanced thru all the 20 pages note on this topic and it really gave me a good picture on this phonic tool.  I admire your love to your girl and spent so much time to teach your girl.  It makes me planning to teach my girl letterland myself at home like you too.  I don't plan to let her learn jolly coz I'm afraid she'll have confusion if learning two systems at the same time.  I don't know jolly too much but I think both jolly and letterland have their own advantages. However I like letterland more after reading the previous notes coz I like their story based learning.

One  question for you, I'm using DWE now and I know you have that also (according to the notes I read).  How do you allocate the time to play these two different programs/systems with your girl?  I don't want to give up DWE since it does help my girl (and also it is so expensive).

我都有用DWE，我覺得兩者是不怕混淆的，因為letterland多數用在同小朋友一齊reading上，或或有時當講故事o甘，只不過唔係講story book係講letterland的拼音事。
但DWE可以當你不在家時，或你不得閒時播比佢聽同看，所以唔同o羅。
其實jolly phonics是用一些動作來令小朋友記得佢programme中7組拼音：

每一個letter sound, blend或phonemes都有一個動作教小朋友，等佢o地一看到個word時，就可以有即時的反應，想起動作，及連帶的發音。久而久之動作都可以唔洗做出來就可以即時拼到個字點讀了。
所以我想好多kindergarten都用jolly phonics的原因，是收效比較快同大，一班小朋友一齊做動作，真係好有趣同開心，好快小朋友就會記得o的動作同發音，一邊做一邊拼，又係幾有趣。而且在jolly o個7組拼音中，已包括了所有letter sound及最常用的組合，小朋友開始reading時，一般beginner level都應沒有甚麼問題的，好快可以catch up到reading skills，自自然然會喜歡reading及解決到其他問題的。
不過letterland是比較複雜，2個level的programme包含的拼音故事多過一百個，programme 1有75張 code card，programme2有85張code card。不過我都是選教一些基本的同常用的：
letter sound：1-z
long vowel sound：a,e,i,o,u
consonant digraphs：sh,th,wh,ch
vowel consonant diagraphs：ce,ci,cy、ge,gi,gy、dge,age
consonant digraphs & silent letters：ch,ph,wh,gh,igh、kn,mb,wr,mn,que
及magic endings：e,ed,ing, -an,-est,-er,-y,-le
有一些我都是未教o架！
但letterland係延展性比較大，好多時小朋友問『點解』在letterland的世界，就可以滿足到佢， letterland中，絕大部份(當然不是所有，因為有一些英文字是外語借用過來的)的字，都可以用故事解譯到點解le個字係o甘拼，點解o個個字又o甘讀，但係用其他的方法就好難可以解譯到了。至於講到是不是所有故事都作得o甘好，或適用，我個人認為還是可以取捨的，所以我都係用letterland來做trunk，遇然也加入一下其他有趣的方法(例如之前提過的between the lions)。

I've just been Taikoo and tried to locate the ETC shop but no luck.  I went to P415 at Hsia Kung Mansion but that is a video rental shop.  Tried to call their number but nobody picks up the phone.  Could you please let me have the correct address of that shop?

Also, do you think that I should buy the teacher guide first (early year one) before I buy any letterland materials?

ETC has moved to Tai Koo Plaza phase 4, 15/F (Rm 1509).
Does any know about any free Letterland talk? I  would like to know more before deciding to buy it or not?

我囡囡現在十四個月了. 平時是工人照顧她. 工人不懂英文. 所以我們放工回來才開始教囡囡一d英文字. 平時播d英文歌給她聽. 朋友又借了幾張DEW, 我們沒有一套完備的方法教囡囡英文. 但她開始大 學東西很快. 所以也很心急想知點教她. 不知你有沒有甚麼ADVICES? SORRY TO BOTHER YOU..
不知現在給她LETTERLAND OK嗎?

Marieyuen or other mums,

I've just checked that my girl's kindergarten will have their own phonic teaching system.  It's something similar to Jolly but created by themselves.  In this case, I just wonder if it will confuse my girl if I teach her with Letterland at home but she learn another system at the school.  Could anyone who has the similar experience give me some suggestions or share me your experience?

i have visited Letterland today and the sales recommended me to buy the ABC book(First Alphabet) and the Alphabet song cd only, cos my child is too young--14months.
i just want to ask about whether i should buy also the software and join the parents' course? or just read the teachers' guides? thanks for your information.
