Flos,
1. For kid's medical insurance, I bought from AIA too, but it was a package with life + hospitalization, and I bought it through a niece (otherwise I detest all sales ppl), who has now left the company.
That niece was able to convince me in 1 thing : kids are prone to all sorts of accidents / diseases in their early stages of life, so to ensure that they are able to get good medical attention, it is crucial to buy some hosp ins just in case. Of course we can take the kids to HA hospitals, nothing bad about that, but sometimes you may need to go to private hospitals = $$$$$. And ins are for emergencies.
So you had better consider buying med ins (at least hosp) for ALL the kids.
2 yrs ago my kid had to perform a surgery in HK Sanatorium (NOT an accident), and I was able to claim back ~7/8 of the hosp costs, still had to pay a few thousand out of my own pocket, but it was fast and efficient medical attention (went to HK San becos of the specialist who does his ops there).
2. My kid also had the stupid / silly experience of jumping the stairs, and that time he sprained his ankle quite badly. Went to a private ortho, spent a few thousand on him, but not hosp, so could not claim.
So you should consider whether it is worthwhile or not, to buy the out-patients part, which is pretty expensive itself, and weigh it against the fees for going to private specialists / doc.
On the other hand, our family doc (who is an O&G), charges us quite reasonably, except for my own attendance cos I asked for receipt = could claim back partially from my employer, so I did NOT buy the out-patients part.
It still costs me ~$8000 p.a. for my kid's life + hosp ins., started this "investment" since he was a few months old.
But I know that you have to multiply the costs with several kids around haha !
