My son was graduated from Pegasus Kindergarten and now studying at Pegasus Primary School.
He is much more happier than before comparing in another kindergarten (a very very traditional type, just like traditional primary school). Besides, there are many opportunities for him to explore at Pegasus, like performing at ceremonies, going field trips, etc. He is quite proud of being a student at Pegasus. He sang the school song and showed his new uniform to neighbors in his early days at Pegasus. He still loves the school very much. Sometimes, he missed the school on Saturdays and Sundays. However, his handwriting is worse than before. In the past, the very traditional teacher required students to write exactly as she did and hand in very tidy and clean homework. Now, my son is quite free to write 'in his own style’. With less practice of writing, he starts to forget how to write the words that he has learnt in the past.
On one hand, students are happier and more exposure for them. On the other hand, parents should be prepared to invest your time. As in my case, my husband and I are working parents, we really feel tired (as well as my son because we go back home late usually) to review his homework, and most of all teach him how to do. The vocabulary and idea of sentence structure of P.1 student is very limited, they may not know how to express their ideas and comments in complete sentence. Parents have to guide them and sometimes write the relevant words for them to copy.
