Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

sandydojo,

How's your newborn? & hope can see you in May.

Little Wing,
Why don't you call our agent & ask them to find one for you. I've found an ayi, I pay her Rmb 700/month, Mon-Fri, from 3:30-7:30 pm.  Remember, don't start with too hi salary.

All,
Really want to meet you & talk! I was soooo mad last night and can't sleep. My stupid Sales Manager sent a 7 pages letter to the board to complain my attitude. She is the lazyiness sales person I meet in my life. I've started to give her pressure to work, do sales calls... for 3 days, she spent whole night to write that letter. (in the letter, she wrote : I'm very tired because I wrote for 5 hours, I won't go to office tomorrow)  Can't believe what is on her mind?  No one care about her letter, just ask me to fire her. How can she get another local job at 5000 net without doing anything.   These stupid local people are making me crazy. I'll print her letter out and let's share - sure will have lots of fun.

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

Critic,

I think if I want to find Ayi through Agency, it is better to find from the Agency in our area.  Our Estate did provide that kind of services.  I want to search for a referral first.  It's more reliable, in my opinion.  Anyway, thank you for your suggestion.

For your case in work, it is very very common in Shanghai.  Staff always by-pass the management / top management here in Shanghai and make their compliant to the overseas head office.  It happened several times in my husband's company.   We can say they are clever but we can offen find non-sensible reasons quoted in their complaint letters.  Take it easy, I believe your superior will trust you.

Hope to see you soon.

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

Little Wing,

The owners don't care about her letter. This is not the first time they by-pass, the ex-sales mgr did the same and got fire. She still can't find a job and calls my secretary very often to claim that she regretted on what she did & wanted to come back.  The rest have learned a lesson from her & don't understand why this one is doing the same stupid thing again. She is silly as, said, "I don't think I'm lazy, here's what I did in March", the she put a list of something made everyone will fire her:

Mar x - send one fax to xxx company
Mar x - talk to xxx company & send proposal
Mar x - looking for my apartment
Mar x - move from old apartment to new apartment
Mar x - stay in apartment and fix everything
Mar x - send one invoice to xxx hotel

She did not apply for leave when doing her personal stuff. I did not deduct her salary. Now, she is telling everyone that she spent 8 hours on sending one invoice. She deserved to be fired.

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

Critic,

Your Sales Manager seemed not only stupid, but also mental disorder.  Does she know what she is writing?  Or may be she wants you to fire her in order to get more compensation on employment termination.

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

Little Wing,

If your husband familiar with the labour law? They knew I know nothing about the labor law. When the ex-Sales Mgr left (actually she threw things in the office & said I did not want to work for you - not me, my American boss)  The next day, she came back and threaten that we fired her and we had to pay her 1 month's extra salary.

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

Little Wing & Nov mama,

I was very mad. The stupid girl threatened me this evening, she said, "If I lose this job, don't think you can enjoy your life in Shanghai."  She sent email to all bosses again & said I lied to her, I bad mouth on her back, I made up stories etc.  Finally, she said, if I'm here, she will leave. (who care?)  In addition, she wrote : I have personally & officially background, you'll regret if you lose me.

I don't know what is personally & officially background?  I asked my American boss in BJ, he said, "I don't know what it means."  Later this afternoon, she sent another email to all bosses & said, "As from today, I don't report to Critic."  What is she talking about? She has a choice to chose the boss she wants?  She said, I don't have the right to fire her, if they want to fire her, come to Shanghai & talk to her.

My secretary is with me tonight and she keeps sending me MSN, "What shall we do? shall we change the door lock?"

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

Critic,

Do you think of getting rid of her immediately by serving her payment in lieu of notice?  It is not good to keep a 'CRAZY GUY' here and she can do many harm things that has impact to your colleagues and your clients.  You can't imagine what she can do........

Once decided to fire her, I think it is better to change the door lock if the mad lady has the key.

Hope you can solve the difficulty soon.

hi Critic,
I feel sorry for your bad experience. For the labour law, I think you can check with your HR department.
I think you should stand firm if you are right.

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

Critic,

Sorry I just read your message now.  In this case, for your own safety, will you consider to call police first?  Because she said those silly words and scared you so much, you may let her know you are under the protection of police.  No matter it's useless, at least it may stop her doing mad action to you.

I have called police experience here, they d act unbelievable efficiency and nice.  You can disucss with your secretary.

Good luck!

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

All moms,

I've decided to fire her tonight, our boss in BJ will call her. I've tried to talk to her peacefully but she is taking everything very personal. I can't do anything. As you know there are so many crazy people in China, I'm afraid of her. If she is asking for reasonable compensation, I'll suggest my boss to give her. All girls in the office are scared, they even ask me to move out. (because the crazy sales manager lives nearby)  I've told my boss how to talk to her, don't argue with her about she is lazy as she thinks she is doing everything perfect. I said, just tell her the management only judge by sales revenue. No matter what she complained, just tell her that, "yes we understand, yes we agree."  I guess she is mentally sick, so I teach him, if she acts crazy, comfort her by, we will have another position in other business which suit your background etc... (just like what I did to my ex-ayi)  I have told my secretary to tell the office's security not let her in.  it's very scarry.

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

hi critic,
i totally agree with nov mama, call the police in advance.
Last year when I was in SH, I quarrrel with the management staff in the building where I live as they want to block the fire exit door. And I think this will endanger our lives. My mon and me go to the police.
They treat you quite differently if you are holding foreign passport. You may also go to the relevant embassy to report that as she is threatening you.
Take care

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

My American boss just called, he spoke 45 mins with the crazy girl. He agreed that she is very weird. She does not know what she is doing. She told him that she wants to leave but not now, she wants to work for 2-3 months. She said, it's a lose for the company without her.  Anyway, he told her that he decided (NOT ME) that she has to move on. She started to threaten him too, said she won't go peacefully! He shouted to her & asked, "Do you know what you are talking?"  She will go to office tomorrow for sure. My boss said, at least, I have to settle the salary & give her personal belongings.  I've called all my staff to come on time, becos I'm always the first one arrive the office.  Very scarry. I will first tell the office security & if she is threatening me again, my secretary will call police.

I tried to talk to her peacefully this morning and want her to understand what we are doing. I told her that I've submitted my resignation, they will close the operation if I'm leaving, so no matter how, you will lose your job.  Later, I invited everyone in the office to have lunch. Then she said something in Chinese. I don't understand what she means. When we were on our way back to office, my secretary & designer said they are very angry of her, because when I invited her for lunch, the Chinese she said means farewell for me, but is in a very insulting manner. Kind of I will be fired by the company.

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

Hi all Shanghai Mammies,

I will bring my son (just 3 years old) to Shanghai soon. I have found a kindergarden for him. However, I still want him to join some playgroups or baby gatherings during this period. Any advise?

Thanks!

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

Critic,

So, at last you have get rid of her....  Don't border what she talked with your staff as they all understand the story.

I also believed that this lady has mental problem so you have to be very careful.  Don't stay alone in the office and try to ask your staff to accompany you when leaving office.  I have also handled two cases of firing staff with mental illness before, fortunately they were the staff of other department and I was only the HR executers.  I understand your feeling.

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

Hi, ek107,

I think you'd better let your son settling down well in SH before considering to enrol him to any other playgroup.  This moving in fact is a big change for both your kid and youself........

I believe that  the school hour for your son's nursery school is for whole day from 9:00 to 16:00, right?  I don't think he has much time to join other playgroup during weekdays but may have time during weekend.

Re: Shanghai Mommies Club

Dear all SH mommies,

Just let you know one strange thing that I saw yesterday:

Yesterday, I brought my daughter to the local clinic to have vaccine injection.  I met a mother with 2 kids here and also waited for injection.  I saw her arm was marked "超產" in blue ink and the mark seemed cannot be vanished.  How come !!!  It is so insulting!!!

Another thought, it may be good if China Government also marks "雞虫" on the arms of the men who are caught due to "叫雞".
