Very informative.  May I know if most students at ISF are ethical local Chinese with Cantonese as mother tongue?  Or are they mostly Taiwanese or other Asians? Thanks.

Thanks for your detailed info.  ISF seems to be an ideal school for most HK parents (of course we need to observe more before making a final decision). But one point is very important, the school fee is "high" (anyway I believe it's reasonable for such high fee).  Many people cannot afford to pay, it's a fact.  It's a limitation to many 有心人 including myself.  However it's good to know there's such a good school in HK.

Would you please also share with us on the following:
1. You mentioned that some students are stronger in English. Is it attributable to the teaching method of ISF or mainly because of their background such as they came from international schools, English kindergartens or English speaking families. What about kids who come from Chinese oriented families? How is their English level ?
2. Are the teachers caring and dedicated?
3. Please share with us more about the 校風 of the school.

粗俗的講, 舉腳贊成你的point1&2,

對你的point3看法有保留, 因為我讚成ib的目的 - 要孩子有思考能力, 判斷能力,香港無疑是功利社會, 但我相信總有有心人的, ib只是提供了個鷹架給學校去發揮去創作,
而要合乎ib資格并不容易, "師資"要求很高, 所以這些學校的老師一定字正腔圓, 語文水準亦高, 好師父才大機會出叻徒弟(i　ｈｏｐｅ）
總好過現在很多津校的師資

    

另外，　想請教下你幫你的小朋友選了那間學校？因為我的大少今年ｋ３，好怕做錯決定，選錯校，傷了他的學習興趣，　頭都痛

其實心裡是很敬重那些為教育努力的學者．不過（只是個人認為，不是真理）IB的路在香港很難行，行政事務多，經費很高，師資嚴謹，認受性未明朗，又不知政府的參予和支持度，香港人又比較急功近利，事事要求立見果效，加上此乃外國引入之產品，是否適合我們呢？如果中途辦得不好，畫虎不成反類犬，咁D學生點攪？心裡有很多疑問?

好像外國人喜歡以big hug and kiss 做見面禮，無論男女老幼，非常自然，但中國人就是不能來這套呀．

另外，我覺得真正的IB其實一點也不易讀．孩子應該從小便以這模式受教，中學才開始巳遲．

其實現在有許多所謂傳統學校，巳改變了很多，變得不再傳統．反而好老師真是可遇不可求．考試模式？次要．

原來你的第一志願是一間官津女校, 嘻, 你就好了, 生女, 好羨慕啊.

yes, 所以我打算給大少小學讀v記,因為年齡愈小, 思想的可塑性愈高, 愈能培養出有獨立思考有判斷力有創新的人,  更希望老師可欣賞孩子的出位的古靈精怪的想法, 而不是壓抑它,(讀津校, 政府才是老闆, 老師無需對我們負責, 老師的好壞真是可遇不可求)我想自己把握好些.

不過, 如果弘立肯6折收我個仔 , 我就afford 的起,
     , 當然愈少人一班愈好

我都怕, 不過, 我同自己講現在好些香港的國際學校行ib行了一段時間, 成果都幾好, 爛船都有三分釘, 所以差極有個諳.

how is victoria assessing its students?

100% by exam result?

this is how isf academy assesses its student:

"Assessment
Teachers are regularly assessing students' progress against set standards, not each student's position in ranking order.  In addition to teacher-designed tests, assessment takes into account classroom observations, projects, reports, homework and portfolios.  Self-assessment and peer assessment are also utilized.  Report cards are issued at the end of each semester to inform parents of their child's academic progress, work habits and character development.  Progress reports are given in October and April, and communication between teachers and parents via email, telephone or after-school appointments is welcomed.  ISFA believes success breeds success, and recognizes the academic, social and behavioral achievements of our students regularly, usually during assemblies.  

Students are not required to participate in public examinations administered by the Government of the HKSAR.  However, standards are ensured when students participate in standardized tests such as the NSW Test throughout their 12 years in ISFA."
