Agee learning is more than just the IB score. We should always learn to the best of our ability. In terms of challenge in the exam, does it have to be IB exam challenge?

My kid studies in international school. Of course I want him to have Chi A level but the fact is that he won't be able to do so.

No idea.

Look forward to know the comparison from HKEAA. I guess they won't do that.

If they do, JUPAS can also handle other international qualification at the same time.

咁 HKEAA 有冇 claim DSE Eng native level?

For UCAS tariff points:

DSE 5** = 145 points
DSE 5*  = 130 points
DE 5      = 105 points

IB HL  7 = 130 points
IB HL  6 = 110 points
(no mention whether IB A or B for language)

The admission office (of say Harvard) is familiar with all curriculum/exams in the world.

Different students have different language background. It does not make sense to require all students achieving bilingual. In fact, US is a relatively monolingual country as compared with Europe. So, I guess that's why they do not really look at BD.

IB 的学习精神是希望世界大同, 按这点原则下, 积极鼓励孩子学外语,其目标是通过外语,认识另一个世界的文化, 习惯, 让孩子学会包容和体谅, 而非着眼于分数是否完美. 或语言多流畅, 因此有BD 在手, 而提出加分之说, 便又容易回到高分是king 的教育了!

在我眼中, 高素质学生的IB 修科可以是 1st Language A + 2nd language ab, or (B), or 2nd language( A). All the same.   

非常鼓励孩子学中文以外的外语, 也是基于类似的理由, 小女法语不错, 加上生活中不少朋友能说流利法语, 要学好, 应该不难, 奈何她特别钟情中文, 自动要求放弃法文. 才集中修读中文吧!

海外大学收生时,对IB 2nd language 是中文的中国人有独特的评价, 或许是对中国和香港文化认识不深入, 才会妄下判断, 如果社会更和谐,目光远大, 我们应该更能在语文基础以外, 看清澈孩子的素质了!

I have learnt that HKU kept most of the non-JUPAS quota from BOTH A-level and DSE cohorts last year such that there was an admission case of IB 40 for medicine.

I don't know whether we are talking about the same boy who got the admission to medi HKU last year with IB score 40.  He did not get the admission and was rejected in first round.  He got the seat in second round and had to study 6 years program instead of 5 years program.  This is a special case.
