To apply exam, do I need to apply through school or teacher?
sure!! exam must apply through ballet school and sign by one RAD teacher. My school is in central..Its too far away for her. IF is not difficult but its really different from graded exam. I got all distinction in my graded exam when i was young.but when i go IF.......i got passed. yr daughter is still young. She can use one more yr to practise IF and get the best results!!! add oil!!!
Agree agree agree,
Ballet is expensive and as a performing arts, it will naturally 'screen out' those 'unsuitable' ones when the kids are growing up. To a certain extent, it is quite cruel coz those dancing the main characters, i.e. prince and princess, will definitely reserve for those with good figures.
However, if you just treat it as an activity and as long as your kids love it and do their best, it's a very good method to train discipliine and to learn to cooperate with others.
I was a ballet student when I was young and enjoyed dancing very much. I still remember when I was in Form 6, I also felt the fees was too high myself and I went to look for a private tutor job!! I could only paid half of the fees but my mom really appreciated my effort. Although I was not the 'princess' kind, I turned a very disciplined person and today, my 9-year old daughter is attending G4. She is very happy with her school and appears to enjoy dancing very much.
I always remind her that she must adopt a good posture and keep her weight up during classes or else her legs will turn 'carrot' .... ... this may be good for Hong Kong students as well, as they are used to study too hard and not enough exercise.
Hi CoCo10,
my son is learning in Karen Leung Dancing Academy ( Tokwawan branch) which is not famous but worth to learn there. The school is not bussiness mind as others. Price are reasonable($440 / mth / 4 classes / 1 hr per class) , have free trail class, if you enroll after trial class, dancing dress, school bag, shoes bag and handbook are free for you. But they are quite full each class. They have over 10 classes per week for age 3-4 age but most of them are full already. My son had join the exam yesterday(Pri. only) & my elder daughter is now G5 going to G6. Of course no need $1,7xx. I paid only $1,100 for 8 classes each mth(90mins per class). I also want to know is it expensive compare with others??
