各位GT家長:

小兒是P.2生, 我想佢轉往GT讀, 想問一些詳情:

1.  請問你們覺得GT的英文程度OK嗎?  看你們之前說小學生考CAMBRIDGE等都有好RESULT.  但佢是不是全英文教學呢, MATH是不是英數還是中數呢.

1.  小學部只英文科是全英語授課，由NET及香港老師分別授課，使用英國小學同級英文課本，有GT 校本課程，其他科母語教學，中文G2開始普通話授課，G5數學及增益課加插英文，中學部是EMI。而學生英文程度則只能以Cambridge result 作準，抱歉因不知何謂佳/OK？G5 21% 15 shields & 97% with 10 shields or above at Fryer, G6 42% pass with merit & 87% pass at KET，G711% pass with perit & 47% pass at PET 。功課量不太多，考、測、默次數不太多。
2.  活動教學, 老師不會太嚴肅。
3.  所有小學都需小三、小六評估，但不覺有操練。
4.  升中學部需於G5上、下學期及G6上學期英文科70分及中、數60分以上和操行B才合資格。過往只有2班G6，而07/08則會有4班，校長說所有合乎升中資格的G6學生，都會原校直升，EMB已批可開四班G7。
5.  中學可考會考/IB, 所有中學生於G8開始逐年考 IGCSE 不同科目，G10可選IB。
6.  抱歉不知怎比較，因不了解CKY！

同Corliss一樣，唔帶八達通咪唔會買囉，就算係唔坐校車返到學校都可以收起個八達通先．　查實我見佢地小息都係拎自己帶的小食開大食會的，唔覺有人落去幫襯部飲品機．

不過只係interview, 我個仔已叫我買左2次汽水機的飲品, 而家間間學校都有呢d機, 又個個小朋友都有8達通, 唔知我個仔升左小學之後, 一日會幫襯幾多次呢?? 有咩辦法可控制佢??

因為我記得有d小學係用八達通點名的, 不過我諗優才唔係, 問題係我個囝囝唔知有冇咁好彩呢...

自己帶小食開大食會 又幾開心wor, 一日有幾多個小息的?

係喎...其實小學都可以唔駛小食部，記得之前參觀過陳守仁，佢地小息都係自己帶食物，個個圍埋一齊食好開心架

Dear Lamsuetwai,

My daughter has been studied at GT for 4 years. I try my best to answer all your questions.

1. Generally speaking, GT pupils' English Standard is relativly higher than the pupils from aided schools as GT has 6-7 Native English teachers to strenthen pupils listening skills and phonics. And GT has GT English which includes writing, phonics and reading skills. those lessons are parallel with General English lessons in GT.

2. GT do emphasis on reading , both English and Chinese. The atmosphere  and programmes which encouage pupils to read more.

3. GT pupils have dictation once a week, Chinese and English alternatively.

4. All direct subsidy schools and aided schools pupils must sit for the TSA in Primary 3.

5. The amount of homework is acceptable and some of it is challanging and creative.

6. Activity teaching means the way and the method of teaching so AA teaching is not assessed by the classroom seating. And I  gave my advice to my daughter's P.3 class teahcer that seating in groups may cause problems for pupils who cannot see the whiteborad clearly. And the way of seating is decided by class teacher. And my daughter's P.3 class teacher took my advice.

7. Pupils who study at GT and if they can get  satisfactory results in P.6. they will allow to study in G.7 of GT. For upper forms, I am not sure, at G.9/G.10, students can choose local programme or IB. For detail, please visit GT website.

I hope all my answers will make you understand GT better.
P.S. my daughter got the 1st in form in 6 subjects. As she has been nourished by al l the teachers, Vice Principal(Ms.Fung), Principal and DR.Lee at GT. Thanks them so much.

上呢個topic真係好,可以從家長經驗中知更多學校既事

上星期六中午經過通菜街,遙望學校,暗祝bk家長的小朋友們全部順利入學:) 有點兒偏心

已替囡囡置了新書包,校服,筆盒....還差鞋兩雙.

2個15分鐘叫細小息,大小息30分鐘,正確d黎講,午膳30分鐘,食完飯盒比當值老師/翠姐檢查完食淨幾多先可以利用大小息的30分鐘落操場玩.

我姨甥女小學唔係GT讀,不過今年考入GT的G7,都要一個試for師弟妹的,我唔知係咪叫呢個'中一入學前學科測驗'?

好好保重. 前兩天同小公主去睇醫生都係人山人海.

鞋遲dd先買,驚隻腳會大d嗎. 學期尾小公主都話對鞋頂指啦.

比當值老師/翠姐檢查完食淨幾多... 是否會寫在手冊或告訴家長??
午膳只得30分鐘, 食完都冇乜時間玩了...尤其食得慢的小朋友.
不過小息共有1hr又幾多wor.

Do you mean the exam. on 17/7?
Yes, all the F.1 students (07/08) have to sit in the exam.on 17/7 as requested by EMB. But the school may decide to put the students in different classes a/c to the result of this test or not.
Since there're interviews & assessment tests, bridging course (from March till now, except the new comers in this mouth), so GT already knows the ability of these students. This exam. is only for the benefit of the primary schoolmates of these G7 students.

唔會寫手冊, 不過如果你有時間去接放學, 可以同翠姐傾下, 佢會話你知你個小朋友食成點, 有進步的有時翠姐會獎糖俾佢地.

Tks for your details explaination, i understand GT more.  Hope my son can join the P. 2 class next year.  As GT is not sooo easy to get admit.

Would you give me some tips that the school concern more:

e.g. English/PTH standard of the kid
     more concern the partent's view
    more concern on the kid - whether they are active or not/ or more creative

did they like the kid to join more ECA (extra activities outsides school hours e.g. piano/swimming etc.)

Hi, lamsuetwai,

From my own experience, GT looks for parents who are willing to cooperate and work together with the school. Both parents and the kid are questioned and obseved during the interviews. Remember try your best to impress the interviewers, e.g. showing them your kid's strongest point and showing them that you really love and care about your kid. Of course, action and proof are stronger than words.

ECA, I think they are "essential'' to impress each interviewer as for my daughter, my husband showed the interviewer the video of my dauhgter playing the piano at the interview. And ECA are the base for developing multi-intengence.
