HOmework is one critical part I consider in choosing a school.....traditional schools emphasize a lot on completing homework every day and there is a lot (I'm not saying htere should be no homework but not the focus).  I like the "reading" concept very much because this is the way to build up vocabulary/grammar and interest for continuous learnings.  THerefore I'm keen to learn about what is the current G1 homework environment.  THanks for the comments and sharing!

Hi Hjm,
My daughter is in G1, I think the homework level is reasonable, (even less than her K3), she can finish all the homework within 30-40mins everyday, and still have enough time to play + practise her piano, even watch Cartoon. The School have give more than a week to prepare the dictation of 10 words or so, I think it is very good, we can  prepare it bit by bit each day. Also, they have a simple English book to bring home everyday, and it is easy enough to  understand even by reading the picture, but at least they build up their habit of reading. So far, I am happy with their progress.

Can you also share with us the language environment, using English and PUtonghua has been good enough so far?  One of the main subjects is taught in CHinese what do you think of this?  Do you know how many native english speakers they have in the primary school?

COLOR代表的程度由淺至深:-
RED , YELLOW, BLUE, GREEN, ORANGE, TURQUOISE, PURPLE , GOLD , WHITE, LIME.

我唸Ｇ２跟Ｇ１不一樣了，因為Ｇ１通告沒有這麼多種顏色．您的通告列明程度由淺至深嗎，因為我意會Ｇ１通告是由深至淺,因為紅組是由校長Ms. Din親自教授,聽其他bk家長說紅組的英文水準很好.其實我也不是想比較,只是想知自己小朋友程度如何,再作出合適輔導而已.

多謝您回覆.既然是列明了.應該也是由淺至深,我只是意會而已.或者日後會慢慢清楚,反正我囡囡的顏色排在中間,比上不足,比下有餘,哈哈.沒所謂淺深之分了.

我估miffy講的是reader的顏色分類, 而不是你講的英文顏色分組呀!  即係好似oxford reading tree 咁, 都會用顏色去分level!

囡囡口述出來的報告  , 唔知有幾多係真架 :

G.3 每星期有一吹 reading , Miss croft 會每組去看小朋友讀 ,  讀完會讚小朋友 ,  d 書係叫名 e.g. yellow 同 yellow 換 , blue 同 blue 換 lai 睇 ,  帶回家睇 1 星期 , 之後交番學校 .

我也給攪亂了,因為我囡囡在英文及reading也是同色,所以我
不為意有分別.

另外,我相信老師已了解ann818的問題,所以1A班的中默由13/10延後至16/10,讓路給數學小測,不過1A數小測是由P.1-P30,又跟1D有不同.

Thank you for your sharing your story with our parents.  Glad to know that your son is all right now which you/your family should have put a lot of efforts and suffered a lot before.  Hope more people can understand the difficulty and the pressure on both of the child and parents.

我對MartyMama的說法很有同感，對學校現有的功課量及默書、test次數和內容等非常滿意。

小兒每天大約15-30分鐘便可完成功課，比起K3小很多，至於默書及測驗，學校會早於一至二星期通知作準備 ，而且有通告給 家長列明時間及範圍，非常清晰，有充足時間給我們每天温小小。

我同意活動教學也要有適量功課及考試，因為子女日後始終也要面對考試的。

1D中默及Purple group英默發生在同一天,孩子說中、英均有些記得有些唔記得,相信已經盡力而為,我也不敢奢望.
下午我找班主任(教中文科的)反映他才知道,他說會幫我反映,從中協調一下. :cry:
