I don't think the reference number really reveals the actual number of applicants. I handed in the application for DBS two hours before the deadline  and my son's ref. no. is 17xx. According to the press, the total number of applicants for DBS is around 1,000, less than last year.

For DBS should be the actual number, as last year around 1400 applications already.  So 17xx is close to my estimation.  When I queue up at DBS, 10 minutes around 6 parents to hand in applications.

For CCSC, last two years around 300+, so I take the point from ccspy and after confirmation from csspy her case was around 3000.

My son's classmate handed in the application today and confirmed from the school office, only a few hundreds application right now.

So, don't worry! Always look at the bright side. Actually from your information and my past experience, your son can beat down a lot of other applicants.

He maintains straight A in 2nd round and conduct A.  Merit in PET and Piano Grade 5 in last few weeks.  My concern is someof his awards below P-5 and CCSC won't count that this year.  But his profile still ok

Congratulations!
All straight A in 2nd round means he's the top student in his school and therefore his ranking should be very high. Yet there is an interesting eliminator in the selection many people may overlook - the conduct grade. Those with A grade in conduct will be ranked at the top whilst those with lower grade will be eliminated directly. Don't overlook the power of 10%. If there are not many students with extremely well performance in extracurricular activities and prizes, then your son's chance should be high.

His chance is high, we take CCSC as safety net.  We don't want CA for my son.

If someone good at ECA and all rounded will go to DBS, LS, etc, for us is the same case.  If either SPCC or DBS accept him, the task has done and we can plan for summer vacation, not for my son, for my wife and I.  It's a challenging and stressful experience.

Yes, S1 application has too much uncertainty and is somewhat high stake as it affects the child's future very much. As a responsible parent, we don't want to see any mismatch of school for our child.

提提各位家長，自行分配報名只剩三日半時間，根據過往經驗，好多申請都會堆埋最後個兩日，所以報名時要預多些少時間。

中一英文會用小班教學，同學仔會快D適應英語學習環境；開學前同學可以參加British Council英語會話強化班；校內鼓勵同學以英語溝通；仲有Creative English。至於英文課本係用緊Longman最行個套，同好多學校ge都差唔多。

Thank you for your reply.  Do you know whether the students like the school and the teachers?  Will they talk about the teachers' bad things behind?

surely students will gossip behind teachers,it's every school's situation.but old students support the school wholeheartedly.the honourary legal consultant and auditor of PTA are old students,coach of debating team is an old student,and many many old students often go back to school to help the younger schoolmates and visit teachers.relationship is like brothers and sisters.

My child says that most students enjoy their school life due to all round education with a lot of exposures and opportunities to explore their potential in addition to academic work. More ECA and inter-school functions are arranged in recent years. During the Christmas celebrating programme, the Form 7 students thanked the school and their teachers for nurturing them in the past years.

The teachers work very hard for their students, preparing a lot of notes and teaching them wholeheartedly. The teachers may sometimes appear to be stern but in fact they love their students and want them to be good. Actually many students like my child like to talk about their teachers and some interesting events occurring in their school life with their parents. Honestly speaking, not much poor comments are heard.
