Sorry mate, I don't think you can/would put down a fake name on your kid's application form.  How can you explain the difference on names of his/her birth certificate.

If the kid is really your kid, nothing to hide.

哈哈! 大家實在是太緊張了, 但不要將重點放在MS.DAI身上.
我想每個交application form的家庭, 都已衡量過自己是否有能力交學費. 所以我認為這不是校長考慮的因素, 反而家庭是否有能力support小朋友比較重要(是否有時間跟小朋友功課, 關心小朋友等,例如全職媽媽). 其實, 相比其他學校, 全部小朋友都係由校長一人接見都幾公平, 亦可見校長幾重視學生.

At  least it's better than other " famous primary school"...divided into many groups and all group into different classrooms....then interview by different teachers....little bit depends on luck.

Today i rec'd the letter of GH.....it's waiting list. Anyways, DGJS hopeless ga la.

Agreed. That's what she can do from the interview, but certainly can't picking up the best from thousands of candidates!

If she can't pick up the best, that means the education in DGJS must be very good and students in this school receives very good training, for everyone know that the result come out that DGJS is one of the best schools in Hong Kong.

agreed! My friend's daughter is one of the example, she has encountered great difficulties in studying the subjects in DGJS. She has got 'eggs' in several dictations and was very frustrated as she has never had any dictations before when she was in kindergarten.

I think before we choose the famous school for our kids, we have to think of our kids ability first, even though we are lucky to get in, the kid will feel very hard to study.

Can imagine some K3 kids can read only simple english sentences, but some can actually read a whole reader without any pictures.  You can see the different standard of the kids.  If they both go to the same school like DGJS, you can imagine how difficult of the kids can only read simple sentences.

看到kuyt寫的, 個心突然都有d慌起來, 如何比自己個女考到, 當然好開心, 因為二千人中選中你, 但如果個女讀到默書零蛋, 我就寧願佢考唔到好了, 因為對個小朋友來說, 會令佢覺得自己好冇好, 會好冇自信, 常常比人叻過自己 ,佢一定唔開心, 如果是這樣, 我都會一樣好唔開心。

其實我和我老公的心情都好矛盾, 傳統名校 vs 新思維學校, 這兩類學校我都有比個女去考, 現在各有一間收了, 應如何選擇呢?

其實好多家長都明白短短幾分鐘，甚至1至2小時的面試未必可以真正搵到精英的小朋友，我個人認為就算那些面試驚到喊的小朋友們長大後亦有可能是十優生、成功人士、專業人士等。以我見過幾間學校，唯有女小拔的校長是要睇小朋友的學校成績表，我唔知咁咩代表什麼，是真有需要或是假扮公平，但最低限度佢有做比你睇佢係在意小朋友在校的成績。

我都有聽過女拔校長會看成績, 如果全部科目都取得最高成績先有機, 而我亦聽過SC老師說過, SC Lower全級中的四分之一人會拿全部最高成績, 即全部tick第一個column, 而入到dgjs的所有sc都是來自這四分一中的某部份。

My daughter had already finish the interview at early October.
If you pay attention when you submitting the information at the waiting room, you may noted that a color tag had been added to the Academic Report - the comment from Class teacher/ Principal.  
Also, as mentioned by the clerk who collect the information, the Headmistress mainly concern on the comment part of the Report.
The result said nothing on the kid's ability (some primary school principal said that most of the kindergarten will tend to mark a higher score in the report).  Only the comment parts can tell us about the kids performance.

Personally, I'm still waiting for the result.  I still not make up my mind to decide which school I prefer.

It depends on what type of schools suit your kid. Some kids do well in traditional schools as they like to follow instructions, enjoy doing homework, like discipline. So a traditional school can be very good as long as your kid suits it. 'New thinking' school may be more creative and less homework, but at the same time their admin may not be very good and the kids may be too 'undisciplined'. So think about what type of kids you have.

Thanks for your response.

So, the difference is whether a father/mother has taken some time to think of a better answer for a question that seem to be very simple.

I think no one will use a fake name.  But I think one can add a new name, just brainstorming.  Is this creative ?  It is because the boy/girl is our precious kid, we need to think hard to assure his/her benefit.

So, besides giving the full address, anyone wants to think of a better answer to the question "Where do you live ?" for our kids ?

Extremely agreed! My friend told me that her daughter 's kindergarten principal wrote a very good comment on her report. That's why he thought  his daughter was successful in entering DGJS despite the interview questions are more or less the same and he and his wife are only an average working class wihout good background. In fact, his daughter's kindergarten is percieved as a second-line kindergarten in Kowloon Tong. No dictation and all subjects except english are taught in chinese in this kinder. That' s why his daughter is extremely frustrated  and feels extremely hard in catching up the standard of DGJS during this few months time. I am not saying "風涼話" as I also apply this school for my daughter. Thus, all the parents need to have enough psychological preparation as well as academic training for all our beloved daughters in order to adapt the hard learning pace and life in this school even starting in P.1 once they are managed to admitting to this school.

I would say don't worry!

Most of the kids adjust well after the first month in terms of the long school hours, lunch arrangement etc which is faced by all other P1 students anyway.  

Dictations/tests start in OCT, another adjustment but mostly for the mama (I mean for us to learn how the help the kid to revise).  However, some teachers help a great deal (e.g., recite in the class, group quiz before test etc, test questions are read in class and they do the papers together so they won't miss a part) and I feel much relaxed say after the 1st 3 weeks of OCT.

You won't believe homework is not heavy at all!  1-3 pieces (including corrections wor!) everyday and sometimes she has none!  

Test/dictation materials are not too many at a time.  e.g, 2-3 chapters in General Studies, less than 20 "vocabularies" for Chinese (秋天, 樹葉, 黃色,金色).  Dictation on readers is pretty easy e.g. today they have "shall, children, daddy, mummy, monkey, jump, sit".  My girl did not have dictation in kinde but she has absolutely no problem in adjusting to it(maybe I do not ask for 100 marks! ).

I have hesitation last year when my girl got accepted and the advice I received were quite divided!  I am glad that eventually I have made a right decision and my kid enjoys her school life soooooo much!
