Re: St. Paul's Co-ed Interview

just heard from a current parent of co-ed.  All applicants who has relation to the school, such as old girls/boys, sibilings, and those have good profile (come from a good family background, not necessary rich family, but high education parents)will be interview first.

Also, all those from broken family will have mininal chance to enter the school.

Re: St. Paul's Co-ed Interview

That's what I heard too.
The question is how can the school understand the parents are highly-educated? By the career?

Career can be reflected.  I think many parent will provide the profile to the school, they will definitly mentioned their education background if it sounds good. right?

No, I didn't mention it there.  Am I stupid?

In fact, for Paul Co-ed, I think they will first see whether the kid is good, then look at their parents.

I think so becos I've seen at least one exception - both parents' background (in terms of education and occupation) is very good but their son couldn't get it.  I asked the father what he thinks is the reason and he said maybe his son looks too naughty...  poor parents...

That's funny... then must include some documentary proof or a photo showing the parent(s) shaking hands with the President of China etc etc

Re: St. Paul's Co-ed Interview

well, I think if you are NPC representatives that you must be a well-known guy.  I think if the father is PhD and mother is Master, plus a reference letter from NPC would definitiy help.

I remembered in their ad on the newspaper, they mentioned they will never consider the child's family background.  I asked a current parent of co-ed, he said what they mean is they will not care if the child are from rich or poor family, but they would care parent's background.

If this is the case, I see no different at all.  Educated parent in general have good job, therefore have good salary, so they will never poor.  right?

Re: St. Paul's Co-ed Interview

Finally I received the interview letter today.      It's on 17th.  Really late!!

Hope it's nothing to do with my qualification as I consider myself rather "educated"!

Re: St. Paul's Co-ed Interview

Come on moms, 48K per year, not that many parents can afford or are willing to pay for Primary schooling anyway (I suppose...)

I think it will become a headache for the school if it gives away offers but those offers never got accepted (e.g. becos the parents finally decided to enrol into another school which is good but far less expensive...)

(disclaimer: I just make this up, I know nothing...)

Re: St. Paul's Co-ed Interview

I agree that 45K/year is pretty expensive to most family in HK, so parents who choose this school must be at least middle-class family.

To me, I still need to struggle if this school accept my daughter, not because the fee, but the location.  They will move to Wong Chun Hang in 2008 which is very far for me.  I need to take 45 min self-driving or at least 1.5 hours public transport from my home to the school.  I don't think this is good to a small girl.

All in all, the reason I apply this school is just for getting experience on interview.  My daughter's kindergarten is in Kowloon Tong and almost all of her classmate are from Kowloon side or N.T., but they still apply this school.  Most of them are just getting experience.

Re: St. Paul's Co-ed Interview

Mrs Wong

My son's interview is also on 17th.  I have no idea where to fill in the educational level of the parents on the application form.  For myself, I am a MSc and my husband is a Degree holder.  Does that mean we are not up to the level?

Re: St. Paul's Co-ed Interview

For the date of interview, is it depends on which kindergarten ? Because some classmates of my daughter are interview in same 1-2 week.......
(e.g. 1st group of interview is "ABC Kindergarten, 2nd group of interview is "DEF Kindergarten....etc)
