Just checked with my piano teacher, she says that Yamaha LU90 is a rather basic model, which will not be able to cater for higher levels.  For longer term planning and better re-sale value, she would suggest for a higher model than Yamaha LU90 or Kawai K18E.  But for K18E, it costs around $28000 !!

What do you think?

I want to buy brand new Yamaha, can someone tell me which model is made in Japan?

Also, my friend plan to migrate to Australia next year and his kid started to learn piano 1 month ago.  Can someone advice whether he go 2nd hand piano or new piano? His kid is 4.5 yrs old.

1. I think you should go to Tom Lee to ask the sales directly.  They should know where the piano was made.  Also, the price of the piano is different from the list price.  They have various discounts (eg cash discount, HSBC platinum card discount, teacher discount, etc).  You have to ask them for the lowest price personally.

2. Some people in Tom Li told me that piano made in China are better value-for-money than piano made in Korea.

3. If you are going to buy a second hand piano, be alerted that everthing inside (or outside) can be changed by the dealer easily.  It is better to buy one from its previous user directlythan through an agent.

I've brought a new piano for my kid.  However, recently he has been complaining to me that the piano being used for teaching in the music school is too poor in quality.  That makes me to rethink whether it is really necessary to have a good piano for learning.  After all, most music school use low grade / poor quality piano to teach students!

Thanks for your advise. Actually my friend is thinking to buy a brand new yamaha piano, and when move to Australia also will pick the piano there, in case his daugthers has no interest to learn piano he can resell in Australia, as heard that yamaha piano in overseas is quite expensive to buy. Pls suggest which model is better suit this purpose. Many thanks.

曬大陸既佩件係好多人工錢,琴佬話多數係Ｄ無良琴倉,將ＳＥＲＩＡＬＮＯ改到ＹＯＵＮＧＤ,自己印上去,將Ｄ舊佩件磡來磡去,一隻YＡＭＡＨＡ既琴,可能由幾隻舊磡出來.所以前排名古屋咪比一週隊出來,話佢唔老實,琴ＳＥＲＩＡＬ　ＮＯ同隻琴既琴腳唔ＡＲＭ KEY,　買２手琴同幾個ＦＲＩＥＮＤ去,走多幾間琴倉,"朋"直覺, 睇內部Ｄ佩件.我朋友都5識琴既野,佢幫睇下琴出來音渣.

拔Ｘ&名古屋都有唔好ＣＯＭＭＥＮＴ.請小心!

我間琴倉,好"up stub" ,係長沙灣,去到有一陣ＳＭＥＬＬ,其實第一次上去我想走,我係ＷＥＢ搵既,佢係ＭＲ莫,得幾琴.唔似其他琴倉有好多,如你仲要既話,我要番ＮＡＭＥ　ＣＡＲＤ,先至果公司名.

其實小妹才疏學淺, 家中隻琴就甘用普通力度彈已經夠響, 我怕到我彈ff聲時會嚇親隔離, 也是因為甘, 夜晚八時後我就唔練琴架喇, 費事俾人投訴「噪音」...甘我咪諗住睇下隔音棉會唔會格緊D聲囉
