Hi Andrea mom,
I like the Christmas card a lot! It was hung onto our Christmas tree the whole time during Christmas and New Year holidays. = )
I think that the assessment will be taken place before Chinese New Year holidays... Yes, it's getting hard during the 2nd term in K2. They have to write and memorise all those words and dictation every week. Actually, numbers are more difficult. The mental quizzes could be a challenge to the kids. Not easy at all! However, I think Andrea could do well, she is smart and is a fast-learner, right? I hope that my son would be good and do his homework nicely and efficiently.

Hi all moms, happy new year.  Sorry that I was a bit late to send the greetings to you all.  

Of coz, special thanks to Andrea mom for the nice card to the kids.  George likes very much.  I haven't got a chance to prepare the card for the kids.  What a pity.

Yes, the syllabus has become more and more difficult.  I  don't want to push them too much for the homework.  I think they are poor... It seems teacher begins to give grading for homework.  Very harsh ah ......

Totally agree.  I also don't want to push my boy too much.  For the grading of the writings, it seems to be very difficult to get an A; am I correct?

Hi parents,
Did your children mention to you that Miss Chiu scolded some naughty students angrily yesterday? My son cried this morning when he woke up and told us that he didn't want to go to school because Miss Chiu was angry and furious when scolding his classmates.
I know that K2 teachers are stern and 'evil' to naughty students, so I told my son not to worry too much if he was well-behaved. He said that he was still frightened by the angry look and voice of Miss Chiu wor... Anyhow, I told him that I would buy him a little something to comfort him.

Hi all,

I am too busy these days... So many things to care about...

I didn't heard from Andrea about the "scolding".  However, I found she acted in a different way these days when I asked her to do sth she didn't really want to or simetimes when I refused her.  I'll try to talk to Andrea tonight and see what happened last week.

I agree that the grading for the homework is a bit too harsh for the kid.  No motivation at all (in my view).  Sometimes, I really struggle when I had a hard time with Andrea (in times when I do revision with her).  We have too little time to do so much work.  Last Friday, 2 pieces of color papers for artwork.   I got to spend so much time to think about it and when I had an idea, spend another longer time to show Andrea how to do it...  gonna crazy soon~~~~~

Dear all,
I asked my son again and he said that he was only frightened by the loud and angry voice of the homeroom teacher. Maybe Ms Chiu has been nice and with soft voice, he was shocked when heard her voice turned loud. =="
Yes, cartoon9, I don't like the grading when this affected the mood of my daughter since K2. She took the grades too seriously, probably she got the pressure from the class teacher. Even we as parents do not care about the grades in kindergarten, the teachers would tell the students to strive to achieve 3 stars, A grade. This is stress to some students. Therefore, I keep reminding myself to monitor closely the emotion of my son and hope that he would take the pressure positively. We cannot stop the teachers from putting pressure on them.... <sad>.

Hi all,

I have talked with Andrea last night.  She said Miss Chiu did not "scold" anyone.  But she has once mentioned that a girl (don't want to mention the name here) cried in the classroom and wanted to look for her brother in another class.

Btw, Andrea told me they did the Chinese revision paper yesterday.  2nd assessment will be coming very soon~~~

Music "exam" last Monday.  Andrea said she was asked to sing the "rabbit song" and then follow the rhythm and clap their hands (1,2,1,2...)

Andrea told me on Monday that the assessment will start this coming Friday and ends next Tuesday.  They kept working on Chinese papers these 2 days.

Your daughter is such a clever girl that she is able to tell you things going on at school.
My son didn't tell me about the assessment to be taken place this Friday and I had to take the initiative to ask and remind him.
It is difficult for us to anticipate when the assessments are done but I guess they will do big papers on Chinese and English next week. Not sure of the Numbers paper though if Andrea mentioned that the assessment would be completed on Tuesday. Maybe the students will do 2 papers in one day.
Anyhow, I think the school must have done sufficient revision with the students before they start doing the big papers.
Add oil.

Yes, I'm confident that the teachers would get our children well-prepared.

BTW, have you taken the H1N1 shots for the children? Recently, the weather is getting cool, and I'm considering to let Alvin take the shot before the peak season, but am also worried about the side effects.

Per Andrea (and according to the normal practice), this Friday will be Maths and General Knowledge, Monday will be English and Tuesday-Chinese.  I believe the schedule for this week will be very tight cos they need revision as well as dictation and learning new stuff.

H1N1 injection - I think I will not let Andrea take it as I'm really scared of the side-effect.  And heard from the news that the virus seems changed from some of the patients, I will wait and see...

My boy was happy last night that there was no homework to do. I let him play the online English games and watch TV last night. I reminded him that he would have homework again this evening. He said that he would be good and study hard again.
He told me that there was new seat assignment yesterday. He is still in blue group.

Thanks God that the assessment is over now.  I did have some hard times with Andrea over the weekend.

Without any homework to do, Andrea was happy too.  She said she could enjoy her dinner now...  She told me that there would be revision before the assessment so I think the kids would definitely perform well.

Yes they have changed their seats and Andrea is still in the same group (red I believe).

Just noticed that their New Year holiday will start on 8th Feb till 19th Feb.  Will you arrange anything for the family?

I don't have specific plan for the celebration of Chinese New Year. Maybe take them to Disneyland... always want to go with them... I think I want to go there more than they do... But will think about that later in early Feb as I need to study with my daughter for her primary school test and quiz and dictation and assessment, etc. this weekend. Primary schooling is not easy nowadays...
I haven't prepared for the Lunar New Year decorations and clothes for my children yet... aya...

我係路過的, 班小朋友其實放好多日假呀, 返埋2月5日 (Fri) 放到2月22 日先返學呀, 因為19號(Fri) 係KV 自己學校假期, 佢地實際放成 16日假呀, 我一諗起我肥妹放咁耐假, 玩到個人都dean人, 要收拾心情番學我就怕怕啦

We will stay in HK for the holiday but I'm think of bringing her to some farms during weekend and have fun.  I thought my girl was feeling a bit stressful during the revision and assessment period.  This could be evidence by some of her abnormal behavior.  

Talking about the assessment, I know that the papars have been all marked.  However, we may get the papers in a month's time, probably before the report card is delivered.
