I agree with 3lamma...it sounds very harsh if the result is to "change" school.  What are the schools which can cater for this type of students, how about gifted, or Attention deficit?  A-school does have the resource so this may already be a suitable school to this kid.  We actually do not have all the details about the case, but hearing that after a month this kid is being asked to leave the school is sad.

The dedicated clinical psychologist should be a right person to assess the case and do the referral for medication or recommendations.  If he's really ADHD there will be presciption and again the nurse is the right person to keep track and help!  Other schools do not have all these resources.  I would have thought this would be a right school for this kid!

Dear all,

If your child is studying in that class, you will know how the learning environment is being affected in September. But A-school has done more than we think. Yesterday my daughter told me she needs not to put down names of those misbehaved classmates and this class policy will be suspended for the time being. She said everyone in the class are very good and obedient.  She told me someone in class is undergoing another type of learning at home and someone is helping him or her. If his or her progree is satisfactory, he or she may come back to class. Everyone in class is invited to design a card for the kid and wish he or she will get well soon. My daughter insisted to finish that card first and studied later. I think it is a good chance for her and her classmates to learn to give love and care to the others. A-school is no where but a miniature of our society. During the process, I find her class is actually learning a lot- problem solving skills. I don't know what's wrong with the kids. As far as what my daughter told me and through the communication with school, I believe A-school has done a lot and performed professionally. We parents need not to guess too much, otherwise we are labelling the others unintentionally. :

你說不關我們事，貴小朋友的事當然唔關我們事，但我想說作為家長的我們，都很擔心子女在學校會被襲擊受傷，或在上堂時被騷擾；在操場、走廊、甚至樓梯被推撞發生意外，同校車的，又時常因為他而開不到車要遲返屋企，在校車上又會因他的行為而影响司機，很易會引致交通意外，直接影响成車二十多人的安全，作為其他小朋友父母的我們也會很擔心，又點會唔關我地事呢？希望你也能體諒我們。

數個留言中看到很多詞語 「暴力傾向」、「過度活躍症」、「活躍」、「資優」、「衝動」、「專注力不足」，會令我想到其實這小朋友是需要更用心地去指引和教導 ，上述所列出的形容都只是一個形容，雖看似「資優」是比較正面的一個，但是如沒適當的引導亦是各樣問題的起因。

公平地論，教導這類型的小朋友除了需學校幫忙，其實家長都需付起很大的心力，尋求專業的付導，甚至需吃藥幫助他們，但這當然是需由專業作出安排。

更者從我體驗看，「暴力傾向」是 有時小朋友壓在心的感覺，還沒學會正確及有效地表達便會發生，當然日子愈久愈沒解決便成了真問題。

如 wmoon 看後，我亦有2句話想分享給小朋友的爸爸和媽媽：

Exceptional Child often feels like failures in school, and usually suffer from low-esteem.  Even if they're brilliant, they tell themselves that they are "stupid".   It's important for them to have a supporter who believe in them and continuously reassure them that they'll get smarter as they get older.

When parents and teachers are overly focused on making them more like their everyone else, they become victims of their disablities.  But when those closest to them honor their strengths and believe in their ability to fulfill their dreams, they're able to mobilize their will to succeed against all odd.

教導小朋友已不是易事，有 Exceptional的有時真令父母憂心，但從回起點為小朋友想便可 ..

Dear Kuzzo,

非常同意你的說法，亦很有感。 我大兒子於幼兒時常給別人問他是不過度活躍症！ 到進了小一，老師投訴他時常無故大叫，老師們都有點怕他。  後來常於上課時撩同傾談，給班主任不停調位。 幸運的是他沒有打人的傾向，但可惜的卻有小許自殘的習慣，eq 很低，易燥易怒。 很幸運他的老師沒有放棄他，班主任在一個project 裹，大胆起用他做leader，發覺原來他很有領導才能，做起事來可以很專注。從此，老師便給他更多機會。他的性格開始变得開朗，願意與人接觸。這可能他覺得自己被肯定，有了滿足感吧！

到現在我仍時常與學校社工保持联絡，留意他的情緒發展。我想最重要的是父母要清楚問題所在，對症下藥，才能幫助小朋友。 浸小如有資源，應嘗試幫助這位同學，這是我個人想法！

我諗左好耐呢個 post 出唔出好 ....  結果我希望用過來人身份分享一下 :

我大仔是有過份活躍症 !!  由幼兒園起就不停轉校 , 無人喜歡他 , 去年他亦給學校踢走 !!  好好彩他回到從前就讀的 international school , 老師 , 主任 , 校長 比機會佢又識引導佢教佢 , 佢跳左無讀 P.5 , 上左 P.6 , 今年他 G.7 了 ,  轉了校他沒有發出怪聲了 ,  why ?  他不再沈悶 , 跳高一級讀既野深左 , 他要用心去上課才了解到課文 , 他為何要了解課文用心上課呢 ?
  
1. 他很痛 - 因為他要離開自已最喜歡的學校 , 同學 , 老師 .  
2. 他知道今次是他最後機會 ....
3. 新校老師背景很有趣 , 上課時亦十分有趣 - 引起他要繼續 . ( P.6 用中一書的 )
4. 老師能有效控制課堂秩序
5. 校長 hursband , 仔女都係醫生 , 他們知道點教 ,  他們又真的肯付出無比愛心耐性 ,  仔仔第一天返學 , 校長特登一早回校接我仔仔 , 真的很感動 .

我敢講今日的他無人會發覺他曾是過動兒 !

對過份活躍症小朋友來說 , 食藥是治標唔治本 .  行為訓練相對重要很多很多 .

希望各位有 "問題" 小朋友家長 , 不要放棄 , 孩子是您自已的 .  係很難得到別人了解架 ....  加油丫 !  共勉之 .

很感人, 很勇敢的分享, 我見過小朋友很多, 每人皆有其獨特性, 懂得欣賞便會快樂一點

我覺得學校做得不錯, 不竟'世界大同'也是現在的風氣,教小朋友接受他人, 學習相處真的是很大的學問!

I don't know how much resource the school can afford to handle the kid nor how much interruption the kid had brought to the class.  But at least, I guess the psychologist or the nurse cannot stay with the kid most of the time.  It is the teachers!  Even if they want to help the kid, they need to have special training.

I think both the school and the parents are in a difficult situation to make decision.  I hope that there will be a good arrangement such that it is beneficial to the kid, the parents and the school.

我的情況如你一樣，亦在等在15日前等通知，一天一天的過，心情由十足把握至今是好像很微，但我亦抱著輕鬆心情，是否是她的成長學校，都要講個"緣字"落空都冇計，我們和她已try ours best.

Dear Current parents

May I ask about homework at BUAP?  HOw many pieces each day, and what is the estimate time to finish them?  Does the school allow any time to do homework at school?  If homework is a big deal, then it sounds like a traditional schoo, doesn't it?

Everyday, my daughter has 2 to 3 pieces of homework. She can finish within 30 minutes. She seldom does the homework at school as she prefers to play with her classmates during recess and lunch. The Principal encourages the students to read more books instead of to do many homeworks. Everyday, I will let my daughter read newspapers and books with me. I found that she has much interest in reading books after studying this school.

School staring about one month, I found that:

1. They are "2 class teachers", but it just for lunch, star & end of day.  All the lesson (except English group to 7 groups), all time 1:30 teacher ratio.  I think they may have enought teachers, where are they go?

2. Principal said that the students is very good not naughty,  why some native speaker teacher will shouted in the class?  So, the students very afraid them.

3. Oct 13 & 20 for G1 English. 10 words each time (bit, big, bad, bed, bus, but.....)
    Oct 13 for G1 Chinese.  10個詞語, 16個字的課文 及 "手" 字部的文字.
    Is this traditional school?
