2006 K1- KEEN MIND AND FRIENDS (part III)

Hi moms,

Gai Gai begins to like Chinese words, sing Chinese and Mandarin songs.   (On before, he does not feel interested in Chinese words, never sing any Chinese songs.)   I don't know if it is good or bad for him.   Now, he even counts numbers in Chinese.   

My Goodness!   My husband doubts if this is a Chinese Kindergarten or bi-lingual.   I wonder what's the role of Ms. Ereka.

Of course it is good for him, he is Chinese, not native, right? unless you add some Foreigner's DNA inside his blood.   ( just kidding,, don't be angry).

But as far as I know and my research about KM when I was looking for kindergartens last year, I well know that KM is not a international school, the international class is not the type you expected. Headmistress has explained clearly to me that except there will be a native station inside the classroom for 3 hours, the syllabus, homeworks, books are same as am class. The only advantage of pm class is that kids will have more chances to speak English and listen English from native. also, for k2 to k3, there will be only PHT and English, no chinese, do you know?

yes, I agree. So, I think for home education is also important, if you want your kid to be fluent in one language, you should provide the environment for him.  I regret that I cannot speak Mandarin well, so cannot teach Mo Mo.  Maybe he will teach me.

Yes, I agree. And apparently Chinese is the most difficult language to learn, it is not easy to be good in Chinese. To be able to survive in Hong Kong now and in the furture. I think we need to be good in both Chinese and English. U c, more and more western people are learning Chinese and Mandarin. I also regret that my Chinese is not good as well.

My son situation is exactly the same as your's.  Since my son didn't go to any PN, so he don't know any words that they taught in KM.  Since KM have been taught the word of 生日, 上下.  Do you know how did my son reply when I asked him, he said "Happy Birthday" and Up, Down. .  I really can't imagine what will happen if he answer english during the evaluation.  These few days I'm working hard to teach him the 單字. but it's really hard to teach all the words in one time.  I very wonder the result of evaluation.

I should do the revision with Mo mo for the chinese words.. Chinese is the weakest subject of him.

my son study in K1AA and Mrs Kurma is his english teacher.  As I know that Mrs Kurma is teaching all the am class english, but I don't know will she teach pm class.

Agree with Renee,
I think the teacher will be generous, may be they just want to c how they get on with the class syllabus, and evaluate each kid and tell us where to pay more attention on. So no WORRY la.

不好意思, 本人是路過的, 因剛為小女準備尋找幼稚園, 所以開始留意不同的幼稚園留言.  如本人有任何冒犯, 請多多包涵.

有一點我實在不太明白, 為什麼妳不喜歡妳的兒子學習中文?  身為中國人的我而不精於中國語文實在覺得丟臉可恥.  除非妳們不打算留在香港生活.  否則小孩階段能在學校接觸多國語言, 從而中學習實在是難能可貴, 更何況現今的香港是需求兩文三語.  

劍鳴學校在語言教育的安排上, 算是辦得非常恰當.  假如妳對這所學校的辦學理念有所不滿及懷疑, 何必不讓妳的兒子轉讀純正的國際學校來提高他與妳的英文水平呢?  一分錢一分貨, 我相信妳亦明白這道理
