Dear 1A parents,

For Maths test on Thursday, I know it's a pre-test.  But do the marks include in the total result?  Are the syllabus same as next week's test?

Dear all,

Maybe do some preparation for receiving the chinese's mock result tomorrow!

I do think I need to squeeze more time for my boy's revision. Sometimes, it's hard & difficult to start the revision especially Chinese.

One thing I have learnt from "星期日檔案", if the kid can sleep more, the kid will concentrate more in class and also for test.

My friend told me that the result for primary 1 & 2 are not so important.  Agree?

My son sleeps at 2030 sharp every night and wakes up at 0630, 10 hours la...... do you think it is enough or not?  However, his careless mistakes are SO SO SO TOO MUCH!  Like the Eng mock test sent home today, I am going to be crazy!!!   He forgot nearly all the "Capital" letters for the 1st word in a sentence, even some words which "copy from the comprehension above", God!!!... and the propotion of his handwriting also deducted many marks by teacher, also the spaces between 2 words...etc... I know that he can understand the paper, but the work he did was.... (I don't know how to describe??!!)   I keep reminding him all the time and I feel I am so trouble already, sometimes I HATE myself to be so trouble TOO!  What can I do???????????!!!!!!!!!  Sometimes I will think "Maybe all boys are like that", any opinions?

I cannot imagine "the surprise" he will give me for tomorrow.

Too shame for me. I let my son go sleeping around every 2200 and wake him up before 0630.

For english result, same to me, his careless mistakes make me very upset. I have made the counting. At least 15 marks should not be deducted if he could pay more concentration.

same same 呀!! 我女每晚都8點擦牙,8:30前就訓著,但佢6:30都唔想起身呀!!

我諗唔係淨係男仔係咁,我女測驗都起碼有5題寫錯大細楷,好在都係減一分咋,我諗正式TEST時就唔會咁鬆手,希望佢地下次會小心D啦!!LET'S RELAX !!

My son always stays very late and tonight is perhaps is the earliest night he went to bed : 10pm.  And he doesn't like to eat rice.  So he is so thin.

Following the nice surprise of Math, his Eng mock test gives me a REAL SURPRISE.  I think Littlehipo's and your problems are minor, kids are usually careless.  But mine is a big issue: he can misunderstand the whole topic and filled in the words which nobody will understand, so he can easily get zero mark for a topic.  Don't know if he can be saved before the test, a week to go.

Hope he won't give me another big surprise for Chinese.

如果唔係想到另一學校插班，P.1 to P.3 的成績，係冇實質用處。

Don't worry, I am with you too. My daughter also made careless mistakes and I am surprised too because she said the english mock test was easy last week.  She just copied "Teddy" instead of "Teddy bear" from the passage and made wrong spelling.  But she was ok when I did the revision with her.  I have tried my best to help her and god bless her next week!

Dear all,

Regarding the careless mistake....P.4 studentds
still make them but they become less and less.
So you guys still have 3 years to improve.

Sometimes it's not the matter how well the kids
study before the tests/exams, but how well their exam skills are.  

1)Try to remind them to read EVERY single word of the question, don't assume they know what is the teacher asking.  If you don't answer in the ways that is required, you lose all the marks even all your answers are correct.  

2)Keep up with the time.  Don't spend time on the same question for too long.  Jump to another question if there is one that they don't know how to answer.  Don't get stuck.

3)Very IMPORTANT.  Check all answers after finishing the papers.  Look for mistakes and wrongly written words.

I suppose you must have remind them the above so many times but you must do it every time they have test/exam.  Besides, they are only P.1 students, relax! They still have many opportunities to sharpen their skills.

I have gone through all of these.  I almost gone exploded when I found out the careless mistakes costed my daughter a whole grade.

Thanks for your tips and I think much better after a long conversation with my hubby last night.  He reminds me " we are common people and so does our son, this is all their growing process, not a matter at all.  If he didn't fall, how can he know that he will fall by it?"

My son deducted over 20 marks for the careless mistakes, like capital letter for the 1st word of a sentence, the name of a person, full-stop and "s" for more than 1.

6:30都唔想起身? 阿囝都係架, 好似瞓極都唔夠咁, (我成日也林佢是否有渴睡症狀!!??) 但只限於星期一至五, 一到星期六或日, 六時起床也不早... 死未?  但那時論到我想瞓啦....
