We just decided last night that we will give up CKY no matter what the result is.  Things are getting just a little too messy for our liking.  Good luck to everyone

It's great for parents to have a clear direction (and decision) on the type of schools for their kids.

It's only fair that parents don't hold onto a place in a school - be it private or DSS - IF it is not their preferred choice. Mind you that it is a long road for the kid - meaning 6 or even 12 years of schooling.  If you don't feel comfortable with the temp campus of CKY, you are likely to find other eyesores over time.  (BTW, Yew Chung has been using the CKY premises as a temp campus for 4 or 5 years.)

Kids who are fortunate/smart enough to secure a place in more than one school should kindly notify those less preferred ones of their DECISION as soon as possible.  Just be considerate to the less fortunate kids/parents.

As a CKY parent, I note that it requires certain level of trust and cooperation on the part of parents if it is to deliver what it's aiming for.  This Christmas, parents are asked to have all-English days/meals!

Ttpp, you have my applause for you've made up your mind! I trust you'd find a school best suited to you/your kid.

My son already received confirmation from DBSPD and DPS. We'll give DBSPD a try.

Good luck to you and everyone at CKY. You never know, maybe we will try CKY again when their new campus is ready.

I called the school, and they said that "after Christmas" means after Christmas vacation, i.e. at least after 2nd January.

Until this delay and news of another temp school site, I have been quite impressed with the school's arrangements.  Now my feeling towards the school has been slightly discounted.

I'm sure the teaching standard will be maintained, but I can't help worrying about the school's administration and organisation for the next few years.

Moving to another temp site & delaying to announce the admission result, it doesn't by all mean they will have the problem of school's administration and organisation.   So, parents don't be worried.   You should trust what you picked.

I'm also awaiting the result & my boy is in luck to get acceptance by few schools like ttpp.   I will be struggling again if I have luck to get a seat in CKY.

     First, I don't think that the P.1 will move to H.K. Island. Before the X'mas holiday, I talked to the teacher of CKY and she told me that they would move to So Uk Estate in January. The Primary section will be in the same area. However, for the indequate space, they are now applying for another site near Kwong Lee Road for the Secondary section. It sounds strange for a school to separate the primary section into two. They should consider the allocation of the resources. The P.1 teachers may teach other grades as well, not just P.1. Thus, I don't think that theP.1 will move to Hong Kong side.  Don't worry about the rumour. If you still worry about this, call the school office. The Principal said that even the kids live in Tung Chung, the school bus company promised that they spend less an hour for travelling. I agree with sparks 's opinion.

I'm also thinking with common sense like you. I hope what I saw from other parents comment at CKY topices is just a rumour.  Because I like this school & I hope the location will not become my concern if my kid got a offer luckly.

Hi,

I know a parent of CKY and she told me that the school ever mentioned they are planning to open a branch CKY in HK side. That may be the source of the rumour. There should not have any link with the 07 P1 student.

ttpp, I have the same feeling as yours. No matter where the alternate school site is, I worry about the arrangement of their resources. How are they going to allocate the school resources in terms of teachers and other supports? Prior to this concern, CKY was my first choice. Now, I am concern with their administration and management. Looking forward to a more complete and transparent message from the school this week.

Glad to hear that someone else is having similar concerns as me.  CKY was our equal first choice as well, so I am not trying to bad mouth the school in any way.  I am just worried that the school's admin will get messy especially in this coming year.  

With the excited responds, I was getting apologetic for being worried for my kid.  Well, let's wait for the results; my son may not even get a seat, so no need to worry.

Though I don't have any insider news, the idea of moving (only) P1 students to a separate campus (and on the other side of the harbour) sounds too absurd to be credible.  Not only is it more costly to set up, it is way too costly to manage too.

Moreover, I don't think it's the CKY style to keep this 'secret' from both existing and prospective parents.

Contrary to what some parents opined, I don't think the admin of CKY is bad. At least their circulars are better written - in terms of English standard - than most other schools.

I would say the "Island Campus" is purely a rumour.  Prospective CKY parents, trust your heart and see if it makes any sense - at all.

On another note, we heard this year the competition (for a seat at CKY) has got even fiercer than in the past, the quality of candidates is great. Moreover, P1 students always get the most - and quality - attention from the school.  Despite its short history, the school manages to allocate some of the most experienced NET teachers as class-teachers for P1.

My two cents are - if you are lucky to get an offer, do treasure it. There are not many schools of this type - yet in Hong Kong. In other words, you may not easily find an alternative with the same attributes.

I have some friend got the call form CKY to ask them to attend the 2nd interview in coming future.
