Hi Jane and other mummys,

I'm a new member. My son is now 21 months old. He was born in Nov 2004, so he is a small child too. I am trying to enroll him into SHK too. Would you have any advice for me for the interview next month? Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks a lot!!!

I feel relieved too as Horace told me that he was very happy today.  Too bad that it has been raining on their first day back to school by themselves.  You know what, I actually travelled back by myself and watched Horace got off his school bus in the opposite of the road... he seemed to be fine though.  

Horace told me he had bread today but he accidentally threw half of it onto the floor.  He said he was ok as teacher gave him a sweet as compensation.  He actually hold the sweet in his hand all the way back to home in the school bus (1hr)!!

Hi bbone, during last year interview, my son played so much in the playround while we were waiting for the interview (>30mins) that his hair got all wet.  I suggest you take an extra t-shirt for your child.  The teacher just let my son played the toy in the classroom and asked him some simple questions.  Of course he has to remember to say thank you after receiving the gift from the teacher.

Sorry, I have some more questions.

Will they ask the parents questions too? Are they allowed to be with the child during the interview?

My son understands English much better than Chinese, like he knows all kinds of shapes but only in English. Will that be a problem?

bbone. Let me answer your question as my son only spoke & understood English while he had the interview last year. Both mom & dad could attend the interview together in the classroom. Teacher asked questions to my son and I did the translation and my son answered in English. I think teacher cares about the ability to understand and response rather than the language that they used. Besides they do observe the kids' motor skills in playing toys and politenness too.

I cannot remembered if teacher asked me questions, maybe one or two questions like who takes care your kid? what does he/she like to play?

Horace mama, you are such a great mom. I cannot do this because if Eugene sees me in the other side of the road, he would definately go crazy and run to me. As I do not want to take the hassle to go back & forth for picking up Eugene, I can only trust the school bus company. Especially they did it many years, it should be okay.

Horace is so cute. If Eugene has a sweet, he cannot wait to eat it. Not to mention, hold in the hand for an hour.

Hi all,

I think most of our kids are doing fine!  Andrew is also enjoying his school life and always mentioned about what he was doing at school.  He seems to adapt fast to this new school.  May be (1) there are several kids from his nursury class and (2) he is familiar with the nursury rhymes / songs teachers sing in class.  So far, I'm happy to see him enjoying so much

For interview last year, the situation is similar to what other parents said, teachers will observe how the kids play with their toys, ask them simple question like who bring you here, what's your name, how old are you, where's your eyes, nose ...  I think they would expect the child to be responsive.  Anyway, don't worry too much and hope your kid is doing well!!

Thank you all so much for your advice. Hope all your kids did well on the big day today. It's hard to imagine 3-yr olds to be at school alone. But I'm sure they all did alright. Thanks again for your help. Hope I can meet you all at school next year!

Horace told me that they sang "ABC song" today and he was very happy.  They had cheese bread today.  He enjoys school a lot.  I feel so happy to hear about that.

我今日去左學校接阿仔放學，原來唔搭校車的得幾個。阿仔返左一星期學，暫時都好開心。Babyu, 我今日都見到Eugene，佢都好聽校車保母話，姨姨叫佢扶住樓梯落，佢即刻都扶住樓梯，所以你都可以放心！睇o黎，大家的小朋友都幾enjoy school life喎。

cos over 1000 babies will attend the interview
so, i think in fact they have not much time to check all the babies detailedly
for me i believe that my son "iron clothes" in very good way, so skillful, then the master gave him high score la!!!!

My son will be in am class A this year, He was born in July 2003, and name "Horace".  It is delight that there is another "Horace" in the pm class.  Nice to meet you all and hope I can see you all in the future activities.
