Hi AL_mom, I have only one child.  I checked with the school before, they said during the informal visit, the parents would be asked to indicate their preference for am or pm session and then the school would allocate the session according to the priority accorded to the student.
Btw, how old is your elder son? still in Abacus or in ESF primary already?

There is no geographical zoning for kindergartens.  So you can apply anywhere.  When we went to Abacus, they said there were 110 Cat 1 applicants alone and they only had 88 place.  Out of the 88, many fall into the 4 priority for application.

No... but some parents choose PM session this year because of the earlier time.  I heard they run a very good PM session, is it true? (though no worries, cuz both sessions are run by the same teachers)

How old is your son?
I checked it b4 and Starters only accept children reach 3 yrs old. I have considered Starters before as it is closer to our home.

The headmistress from TY ESF mentioned that they have received 600+ application this year but they only have 177 seats.  She didn't mentioned about the split of Cat 1 and Cat 2 but she have mentioned that not all Cat 1 can receive the invitation as there are more than 200 Cat 1 applicants this year.  They only use computer to do a lottery on the Cat 1 applicants for the 1st round informal play invitation.  Hope you find the information useful.

My daugher is a K1 in SW ESF at present.
i just got the info from the Principle yesterday that this year, there were 80+ applicants to esf primary (don't remember the exact number), 79 were accepted, 5 need to re-interview but 3 of them were told should be okay, 4 accepted but no place available (that is on confirmed waitlist), and 1 did not have interview yet (since joined K2 only in Sep, not 2 terms yet). the numbers of SW ESF is not bad this year, however, it will be tough next year, since they are moving to hillside and will have 8 K2 classes in total, which the number of students will be double.

I've just received the letter of informal visit on 10March for TY, does anyone received that too?Is the chance high to get in if i received this informal visit, can anyone share the experience of the first informal visit that held on Jan.

If your letter didn't say anything about waiting list... then they would only ask you to go for an informal visit if there's a space for your kid.
