Ying wah primary school question

Dear Ying Wah parents,

My son will be at K3 this Sept and need to choose a primary school.  Is Ying Wah a Band One and difficult to get in?  Is it have lots of homework? I am living in Liberte which is very close to Ying Wah.  Should I choose it as a first choice?  Pls comments.  Thanks.

Most of the students in YW College belong to Band One, but I don't think primary schools have that type of classification.

Not a lot in my opinion.

If you love YW as much as I do, then of course put it as first choice.  Putting YW in other choices means no chance at all.

1. as first choice in discretionary places admission (at end of Sept);
2. as first choice in centre allocation (ealy Jan)
3. knocking door after the result of centre allcoation

What elements you think that can make it a success.

I don't know what elements can make my son get successful to get in Ying Wah.  Do you have any suggestions?

Are you living in Lai Chi Kok district?

What longlongmom suggests  was the way we got in Ying Wa.  We went through all the 3 steps.

Principal Lam cares a lot about the effort parents spend on their sons. The following thread has very good information about the knocking door process:

My son will be in K3 in Sept.  If he only gets 15 marks and we are not living in LCK, is there any chance to get in?

If YW changes to DSS in 2008, then everyone can apply. Otherwise, there will only be 8 places left for those outside District 40 in the lucky draw, or you may try "knocking door" after the lucky draw.  Bigger chance if you move into District 40 before the end of 2007 to enter the lucky draw.

Thanks for your reply and info.  I will go to the link and read later.  Is DSS mean 直資?  I know that Ying Wah will be changed to 直資 next year.  Is it true?  I live in Liberte, Lai Chi Kok and my son is the oldest and he is not christian.  How many marks did he have?

Yes, DSS means 直資. Ying Wah is confirmed that it will be changed to 直資 next year.  So, no need to count marks anymore, just apply later this year.

I've just finished reading 19 pages in this topic. It's really touching. Tears fall down uncontrollably. You, Anthea, Sneezy and ...... are very good mothers. I don't know that you have gone through so many difficulties before joining YW. Comparatively, I was much more lucky. I need to learn a lot especially to be more patient......
The elder son suddenly phoned me complaining too much homework from the tutorial teacher. He can't finish them and thus wants to skip one lesson. He had already skipped one lesson last week and in fact those homework was assigned to him two weeks ago. I explained to him gently and persuaded him to do as much as he could. But he didn't listen to me and dropped the line impolitely. I was angry, phoned him back and told him seriously that it's his responsibility. He dropped the line again. Initially I really explain to him nicely but he is such a bad temper and so impolite that makes me angry.

It is really a heart touching story but we are just normal parents as you, we are just practising "I will get the job done!我會做好呢份工".  We are very lucky to get the chance of being a member of YW finally, there are many more parents who are as "making their best" as we are but just left behind the scene.  That is why we are so grateful and excited and keep noisy here.

I can feel the fiery induced by a rude son especially when, a mother has given so much love and care and considerations to him.  On the other hand, homework given by tutor in addition to homework given by school may be an unbearable heavy workload to him. (I don't know how heavy it is, but get a sense that P.4 is much heavier than P.1) Boys may want more free time for sports or leisure. I hope you two get a balance point on that and resolve the problem after a hearty chat.  Pray for you!

It's very nice to talk to you. If I can write in Chinese, that'll even much better as I can more easily to express what I really want to say.
I always keep on reminding myself to keep calm and be patient, but as the sons are getting older, they always make me angry and then I forgot everything. Next time, I must 好嬲時...上來bk找你們吐出來...開心時...又上來bk向你們說出我的開心事.  :  :
BTW, take care for your trip on Monday. The weather is so unstable and it's easily to get sick.

Regarding the homework, in fact, there are not too much homework in my son's class. I know that the volumn of homework differs a lot in different classes. The main problem is that my son hate composition. He is weak at this and thus the tutor request him to write a Chinese and an English composition each week. Whenever doing the composition, he will try to bargain, delay, avoid...... Always says nothing to write and sometimes even says feeling sick and headache.
