聖若瑟小學擬減班結龍

　　(星島日報報道)為預備轉為全日制及直屬中學結成「一條龍」學校，灣仔區名校聖若瑟小學計畫於○八學年，把小一班數由現時八班減至五班，小一學額將減少約一百一十個。校方強調，尚未有轉全日制及「結龍」的時間表。

　　聖若瑟英文書院校監Brother Thomas Favier日前接受訪問時表示，辦學團體一直希望中小學「結龍」﹔但由於小學每級有八班，中學只得五班，校方尚未決定是否「結龍」。

　　該校校長梁長興透露，現時中一只有逾百個直屬學位，小學畢業生卻有近三百人，每年均有百多名小六生未能直升中學﹔故小學計畫於○八學年，把小一由八班減至五班，原因是若中小學「結龍」，中學須預留部分學位予他校學生，小學或須再減至四班小一，中小學才能「結龍」。

　　聖若瑟小學校長梁賦鈿則指，轉全日制是小學減少班數的另一原因，因學校只有二十四個課室，小一至小六均須減至五班才能轉制。但她強調，校方對轉全日制未有最後定案。

　　梁長興表示，聖若瑟英文書院的第一期學校改善工程，須籌募一千一百萬元費用﹔由於得到校友會支持，現已籌得一千萬元，他有信心在明年二月完工前，能達到籌款目標。

　　他又指，改善工程獲校友、王董建築師事務有限公司董事總經理何承天支持，只象徵式收取一元顧問費。「其他公司也因此不好意思收太貴，令我們省下逾百萬元顧問費。」梁長興透露，校方正計畫第二期工程，把禮拜堂部份樓底高的樓層「一開二」，增加二至三層樓面，改善教員設施。

減少班數對小學生其實是件好事,因為到小六上中學要由8班選4班幾,幾乎減左一半,咁樣競爭法未免有點殘忍,如果減班,咁對於入到小學既同學壓力都無咁大,升上中學又更多保障,老師負擔又無咁重,教學可以發揮得好d,何樂而不為呢.

I agree that screening out the students are not a good thing & it's related to the whole education system.  However, you have to pay fees to study in SPCC, DGS, DBS but 聖若瑟小學 is till free of charge!

越來越覺得辦教育真係吾易, 無論津/官/私小, 直資都有好多地方令家長不滿, 好難乎合到不同階層對教育既期望。 做家長既, 揀最乎合自己要求既小學讓子女就讀就得la, 其它學校點選學生, 學費有幾貴, or 是靠瘋狂Screening, 都吾需理會,  既然有o甘多不滿, 點解仲o甘留意吾係自己target既學校   香港人真奇怪。

對，辦教育真係吾易，所以與其讓政府去辦教育，不如行學卷制。

咁其實都係証明左,st joe都有比機會各家長/學生,唔係只收少少,入都難入囉.....事都有兩面......

有本事就學SPCC, DGS, DBS 等, 自己揀等同中學學位數量之小一學生, 自己一手一腳train up 他們達到中學要求之高水準, 而不是靠大量screen out 自己train up 但不達標的學生, 這樣只証明校方教導無方

It is not true that the good result of St. Joseph is due to 'big screening'. The situation is that there's only 5 classes for each form in the secondary school and 8 classes in the primary school. There is a misconception here about the '8' classes, it's only because they only have Primary one classes in the afternoon class, but remember, there's no more Primary one classes in the morning session. So on the whole, there's only 8 classes in the school for both morning and afternoon school. If you look at Hennessy Primary School, there are 5 Primary one Classes in the morning school and again 5 Primary one classes in the afternoon school. So you know how many classes are there for each 班級altogether in the whole school -- 10 classes, then which school has more classes in each 班級? According to this number, I think it is easier for my son to go to St.Joseph in the secondary school than to Queen's College.
Also please don't forget as Ms. Leung, the Principal said during the Parents' Gathering, they won't give up any student. I as a parent really appreciate what she said and I'm sure the school means it.  My son comes home everyday with smiling faces and is eager to tell me what happens at school. Have confidence in your child and let them enjoy their school.

Congratulations, You find out SJ is just the no. 2 school which 比機會各家長/學生,. I also believe that the school won't give up students, she do that just because more than half of them cannot catch the SJ's standard

Screening 學生,吾係St.Joseph獨有.  好多名津校 e.g. La Salle, Maryknoll ....都係o甘 ka la, 讀吾到. 都係無得留低。 所謂"食得咸魚抵得渴",  呢個咪讀名校既"遊戲規則", 覺得呢個"遊戲規則" 吾公平, 咪吾好讀名津校, 讀直資, 仲要保証小朋友成績幾差都好. 中學部全部收番。o甘就皆大歡喜, 大家吾洗拗。
