My boy is 4.5yrs (K2) , very active, quite afraid tradition primary not suitable for him.
Any parents of 港大同學會小學, your kids enjoy their school life ??  Pls give me some hints.

My child spent a year there and had quitted.  Looking back,  I think I have made a very clever decision by changing the school for him.  It's been quite a truma!!!

My boy was injured during a school function and the teacher refused to call the ambulance for me, though I requested it.  The school told me later that they did not want to "alarm" the press by calling 999.  In another school function when the kids were taken to visit a museum (my boy did not go because I was worried about his safety), the teacher told me that a girl fell from the esculator and got stitches in her arm (the teacher told me this to illustrate that "it's no big deal").  In another activity, children were taken to the beach at 11:00am in July.  That day was 酷熱天氣警告and I really can't understand why they made such kind of arrangement.
There are many more incidents of that kind, and perhaps because I asked the school why they didn't call the ambulance for my child in the first incident, I might have agitated them.  Later, my child was scolded fiercely by the class teacher for not keeping the nails short enough (I cut his nails twice a week).

Well... I feel so bad even when I recall all those incidents now...

That school is a dream school for some parents, even me (before), but now I will choose Christian school instead cos we are a Christian family........
Can your boy accept the traditional school's teaching method now?? I know it's not easy to change for 1 yr. school life there........

我都好同意Planet的見解。
當年我到這間小學聴講座﹐嗰校長話唔會收插班生同唔會有精英班之分﹐但上年我去看這間學校的網頁﹐佢哋收插班生喎（小二或以上）。
我哥哥有個朋友的仔仔在這間讀（現在應該是小四）﹐當年問佢是小二﹐我哥哥的朋友對我說他的兒子是讀精英班的（英文真係好深的）。
其實大家對會活動教學有一個誤解﹐這些學校多數只在頭一､二年進行活動教學﹐到第三年就會轉會傳統教學﹐此終要應付升中。

Dear Y2KChild and other Parents

My little girl is quite shy and and quite passive at class.  She is sensitive to others' comment about her too.

I am wondering that she may not be suitable to study at trad. school with class size ~ 40.  The teacher may not have time to look after such students' interest and emotion.

But for schools like 港大同學會小學, the smaller class size sounds attractive to me but the style, I believe there will be more elements of projects, discussions, ... that will reveal my girl's weaknesses on communication.

I'm faced with the dilemma of choosing Traditional or non-traditional primary school.  (She is now K2.)

Any advice or views to share with?  Many thanks in advance.

I've got another question for you.  (Hope you don't mind.)

As my girl is rather shy, I think there is little chance for her to be admitted to schools like 港大同學會小學 with keen competition.

Any idea on schools with small-class and activity-based approach, "through-train" to secondary school and less keen competition?

Pardon me if I sound to be not sympathetic with your experience, but I will not let me child to quit this school because of the incidents you mentioned above.  

Let me briefly explain it.  Whether an ambulance should be summoned is very much a judgment to be made by the teachers at the scene.  I doubt whether you were at the scene.  I don't think that alarming the press was the dominant (if it really was) reason.   Nor do I think that teachers would risk their future by not calling an ambulance if the situation was really serious.

Correct me if I am wrong, the Observatory will not issue 酷熱天氣警告 in advance.  But the field trip must have been planned for days if not months.  In addition, we do expect very hot day by going to the beach in July, don't we?  And you have not mentioned what they were supposed to do on the beach that day.

Are there any other reasons which you consider that this school is not suitable to a child?  This school is also one of my choices for my children and I wish to know more about it.  Many thanks.

Guess what!  My kid will probably be admitted to SPC as she is now studying at her "related" kindergarten.  That's why I need to search for other primary schools.

For your 1st choice such as ESF, do you think my kid can live with the Eng. standard of these schools?  Her kindergarten is not an international one and we are not an English-speaking family.

For the 2nd choices, I'm also interested in CKY, HKUGA, and CPS.

As I know HKUGA really got no 精英班，but they have divided the whole level to different groups while having chinese, english and mathematics lessons.
As one may have good standard in English but not the same standard in Chinese.
