Dear bbtung,
This is easy. Use a clean 100% dry cotton fabric (cut from an old t-shirt) and wipe the rosin off every time after/before practising.  Use both hands (left/right/left/right/ etc.) just like the way you polish your shoes.

It is quite difficult to remove the 松香"積".  I think you may try to avoid the buildup of 松香積 by doing the following.

(1)Use a 松香 of better quality. 松香of better quality produces less powder when bowing.
(2)Use 松香 sparingly! Just a little will do! Actually, you don't really need to apply rosin each time you play; once every four or five times is more than enough.
(3)Use a soft cloth (dry!) to clean thoroughly your strings, your instrument, and the stick of your bow after each time you play.  If you let the powder stay overnight, the powder becomes stain and is very difficult to remove.

For the existing 松香積, try to use a soft cloth (dry) or a soft brush. The most powerful tool is a damp cloth!!! But it will cause damage to your violin.  
In the past, my daughter was using a cheap violin ( the one made in China with a thick coat of shiny varnish.)  I used a damp cloth (damp! not wet!)

我試過用乾布抹弦上的松香積，但發出很難聽的吱吱聲，而且抹不清，由於仔仔的小提琴是平價貨，所以我用濕布抹(琴身亦是)，長此不去，是不是會弄壞小提琴？有時懶，並不是每次都抹。

Dear mimi1234,
吱吱聲 is normal because both the rosin & the cloth are dry.  I never used a damp cloth to wipe the rosin off because the violin teacher told me to use only a dry cloth.

My 2 cents,

Don't use damp cloth to clean any part of the violin.

Wood don't like water, strings don't like water and the bow don't like it too!

For stubborn stain on strings, use alcohol, of course put on a cloth. But make sure it won't touch the body and fingerboard. It hurts the inlaid (paint) of it seriously. Maybe you can use a cloth to separate them when cleaning.

Music Office now offers a workshop of how to maintain your strings, you can enrol immediately.
I had attended a year ago, you can soak the bow.  I had asked our teacher before, she confirmed it is OK. But, she advised me to buy a new one if it is dirty because ours bow is cheap.

To clean the strings, there is nothing better than an old cork from a bottle of wine.  It won't hurt anything even if you drop it on the body of the violin.  Alcohol is fine BUT MAKE SURE IT DOES NOT GET IN TOUCH WITH THE VARNISH.

I advise against rosining the bow every time before you play.  Unless you play more than say two hours a day, it should be fine to rosin the bow once a week.  Excessive rosining will choke the sound, make the violin dirty, and may become a health risk.  If you have to rosin your bow everyday to keep it from being slippery, chance is that the bow is not haired with real horse hair (it may be some synthetic strings).  Get a better bow or have the bow rehaired.

Violin learning rule no.1 - use a piece of clean cotton cloth to gently clean the surface of the violin, the strings and the bow evey time after practice.

Can't agree that. You can soak the hair, but definitely not the BOW, unless you use a carbon fibre one.

You are already doing what one is supposed to do.  There is absolutely no need to wax the violin (although a layer of microcrystalline wax is probably not harmful - http://www.woodfinishsupply.com/RenWax.html)

in fact, change a better rosin will help  

For me I am cleaning the strings with clean clothes. In fact, I believe the bad sound is not only because of the rosin. It may cause by the bow / strings / violin / and most importantly the player.

In fact, there shouldn't be much rosin on the strings, as if you practise much enough, the strings will be broken out before the rosin affect the sound.

剛剛打到tomlee和凱聲，Lackreiniger已經不再生產。凱聲有兩個牌子，Petz（奧地利）和Shar（美國），細支$20，大支$40。tomlee介紹的好像不是專抹松香漬，我也不考慮。請問我應該買那一個牌子？凱聲的職員話兩種都好用
